ADC extends our warmest wishes to all those observing Eid al-Fitr. May this day of faith, giving, and reflection bring you and your loved ones peace and renewal, and strengthen our shared commitment to fighting for justice and dignity.   This Eid comes at a difficult time for our community. Across the region, many are marking this day while facing profound loss, bombardment, and genocide.   Here at home, Arab and Muslim communities are confronting rising discrimination, attacks on our civil rights, and increasing efforts to silence voices speaking out for justice. These challenges are real, and they demand continued vigilance and action.   And yet, even in the face of all of this, we continue to see the strength of our communities—in the way people show up for one another, speak out, and refuse to accept injustice. That strength is what sustains this work and makes it possible to keep moving forward.   We hope this Eid brings you moments of peace, time with loved ones, and the strength to carry forward in these times ahead.

After 12 months of unlawful detention, Palestinian activist Leqaa Kordia has been released from ICE custody. Leqaa, a 33-year-old Palestinian woman from Paterson, New Jersey, was detained on March 13, 2025, nearly one year after attending the April 2024 Columbia University protests for Palestine. She was among hundreds arrested at the protest, and the charges against her were immediately dismissed in the interest of justice. But despite that, the federal government used that dismissed and sealed arrest to target her. Homeland Security obtained NYPD records on Leqaa, questioned her friends and family, and surveilled nearly every aspect of her personal life in a chilling act of political retaliation. As the last remaining pro-Palestinian protester detained in connection with the Columbia protests, Leqaa’s release is a victory for free speech, immigrant justice, and the movement for Palestinian liberation. We celebrate today, and we remain committed to the fight until no one is criminalized, detained, or deported for speaking out against genocide and standing up for justice. ADC extends deep gratitude to Leqaa’s legal team @CUNY_CLEAR @MuslimAdvocates @TXCivilRights, advocates, organizers, and all those who fought tirelessly for her freedom.

Today we remember Rachel Corrie, killed 23 years ago in Rafah, Gaza, on March 16, 2003. Rachel was 23, an American activist and volunteer with the International Solidarity Movement. She was crushed to death by an Israeli bulldozer while standing in solidarity with Palestinians and trying to protect homes from demolition. Rachel’s courage, humanity, and commitment to justice continue to resonate around the world. In the years since her death, her name has become a symbol of solidarity with Palestine and of the conviction that ordinary people can and must act in the face of injustice. Through the work carried on in her memory, including the @rcfoundation, her legacy continues to inspire people to build connection, understanding, and collective struggle for dignity and freedom. Today, we honor Rachel Corrie’s life, her moral clarity, and her unwavering commitment to justice. We remember her not only for how she died, but for how she lived: with compassion, courage, and deep solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Israel’s latest act of impunity is a reminder that its institutions are designed to shield abuse against Palestinians, not punish it. Israel’s use of sexual violence as a weapon of war has long been documented, and U.S. support continues to enable that violence at every level.

If Zionists had their way, this would be happening here too. The only thing standing between us and what they’re doing to this woman is the First Amendment

Iran will not be the end. For Israel, the goal posts always move. “Only when it comes to Israel, we are told, must the US go out of its way to placate Israel, offer more assurances of undying love, boost military aid, and fulfill every Israeli request. But there’s no evidence that this has made Israel more likely to pursue peace; all the evidence suggests it has emboldened the most intransigent and militarist currents in Israeli politics. That is utterly predictable: Spare the rod, spoil the child.” Read more at adctimes.substack.com

We argue that the First Amendment does not allow elected officials to spread bigotry from an official platform and then silence the people they target when they respond. Rep. Fine put himself in public service. That means he answers to the public. He does not get to isolate himself from criticism while using official channels to push his agenda. This lawsuit is part of ADC's ongoing national work to hold public officials accountable when they abuse government platforms to suppress protected speech and undermine civil rights. ADC will continue to challenge censorship and defend the public's right to participate in civic life without being excluded for their viewpoint.

Randy Fine is one of the most bigoted and racist members ever elected to federal office, and we are suing for violating the First Amendment Rights of plaintiff Amjad Masad. After going on a racist tirade on his official X account, @RepFine blocked Mr. Masad for mocking his anti-Muslim post.

@Ostrov_A And how many children's playgrounds do you think were destroyed in Gaza? Your one-sided concerns and hypocrisy are too transparent. No one buys your victimhood act when you gleefully cheer on genocide.

🚨NEWS. Israeli strike kills Christian priest who refused to abandon his village in south Lebanon Israel assassinated Father Pierre Al-Rai, the parish priest of the Christian village of Qlayaa in southern Lebanon today. When Israel ordered the forced evacuation of dozens of towns across southern Lebanon, he urged that the area remain free of armed activity and warned civilians should not be placed in danger. Speaking outside his church three days ago, he declared: “None of us carries weapons. The only weapons we carry are peace, love, and prayer.” Qlayaa’s mayor blamed Israel for the killing and said no Hezbollah fighters were present in the town. He told LBCI that an Israeli drone strike killed another Christian civilian nearby after Israel’s displacement order for the town. (Video by @translatingpal. More details in reply)

✝️🇱🇧 Israeli occupation bombardment killed the priest of the town of Al-Qliyaa in southern Lebanon. He had previously appeared in what would become one of his final messages before he was brutally killed. Father Pierre Al-Rahi was known among the people of his town as a spiritual guide and community figure who stood beside residents through difficult times. He believed he would be safe because he was a civilian and a man of faith. But the Israeli occupation has repeatedly targeted civilian areas and communities across southern Lebanon. His killing stands as another painful reminder that even civilians, including religious figures, have not been spared in the bombardment. eyesoflebanon (IG)

AIPAC endorses Trump’s threat to “take out easily destroyable targets that will make it virtually impossible for Iran to ever be built back, as a Nation, again — Death, Fire, and Fury will reign [sic] upon them” This is a war against the people of Iran, and AIPAC fully backs it.
