Ukraine has always deserved our support.

Now we truly have a global Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children – from Canada and Latin America, from the United States and Argentina, to Europe and Japan. Today, Switzerland and Cyprus are joining our coalition. We now have almost 50 countries standing together in this coalition – and I am grateful for that. Almost every month, we see results. Children come home. But many more still need to come home. We must clearly document where the children are, track the full chain of abduction and the cover-up of this crime, bring the children back, and help them find themselves again and return to normal life. None of this is easy. But it is good that our Bring Kids Back UA initiative is working. It is good that you are active – at the level of the European Commission, European institutions, international organizations, and the leadership of every country. And I am especially grateful to the First Ladies who help to secure the release of these children. All of this must continue. Since the start of the day, the Russian army has been attacking Ukraine in every form – with attack drones, missile strikes, shelling and assaults along the front line, and the use of aerial bombs. In just the time from midnight through the morning, there have already been around 100 attack drones, dozens of assault actions on key frontline directions, as well as dozens of air strikes. Significant damage to civilian infrastructure has been recorded in the Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, and Kherson regions. There have also been strikes on the Ukrzaliznytsia locomotives and infrastructure in several regions. Ukraine’s energy system remains a constant Russian target. All of this shows that Russia is not seriously considering a ceasefire, and that the only thing that continues to concern the Russian leadership is a short-term silence on Red Square. Russia continues to kill people while being completely irrationally obsessed with only a few hours of silence in one part of Moscow. Ukraine will act justly – day by day. We proposed a ceasefire starting at midnight on May 6. Yesterday and today, Russia has violated this ceasefire regime. In a mirror response to Russian strikes, we will continue our long-range sanctions. And in response to Russia’s willingness to move toward diplomacy, we will proceed along the path of diplomacy. We need concrete steps to end this war, and peace will still be achieved – we are working toward that. The only question is how much time will be lost because of Russia’s madness. The rescue operation continues in Dnipro after Russia’s strikes on the city. All services are engaged – medical teams, rescuers. I am grateful to everyone on the ground who is truly helping people. Since last night, Russia has been terrorizing Dnipro with missile and drone attacks. Strikes have hit ordinary residential buildings, energy facilities, civilian sites. During the day, the Russians once again attacked the same residential area they had struck overnight. There have been numerous casualties. As of now, more than 40 people have been reported wounded in Dnipro, including children. Twenty‑three people have been hospitalized. Two more are missing – their search will continue until their fate is determined. Sadly, five people in the city have been killed by these Russian strikes. My condolences to their families and loved ones. It is important that the world does not remain silent about what is happening and that this Russian war in Europe is not overshadowed by the war in Iran. “Shaheds” kill people all the same, and protection against cruise missiles and ballistic threats must be equally reliable. We count on the timely implementation of each of our political agreements to strengthen air defense. And it is vital that pressure on Russia over this war does not stop for a single day – there must be no pauses in sanctions against Russia for each of these strikes. Life needs protection, and I thank everyone who stands with Ukraine.

What the Artemis II astronauts did over the last 10 days was a testament to their bravery. And the fact that they traveled farther from Earth than anyone ever has, re-entered our atmosphere at more than 24,000 mph, and splashed down safely was a testament to human ingenuity.
