"At heart, the question, 'Who is my neighbor?' interrogates the scope of our moral community. It asks, who is related to us, and who is other? Who am I obligated to care for, and who can I overlook, exclude or even attack without regret?" -@adecort raptinterviews.com/articles/who-c…

@ZachWLambert I've been privileged to preach semi-regularly at a small Mennonite church outside Chicago for a few years. I think the largest attendance has been 12. People often come in late, and we always stop to greet them warmly. It's been a very special experience after megachurch.

Philip Yancey’s friend who is a recovering alcoholic once told him: "When I'm late to church, people turn around and stare at me with frowns of disapproval. I get the clear message that l'm not as responsible as they are. When I'm late to AA, the meeting comes to a halt and everyone jumps up to hug and welcome me. They realize that my lateness may be a sign that I almost didn't make it. When I show up, it proves that my desperate need for them won out over my desperate need for alcohol."

Many are upset Bonhoeffer unequivocally links its eponymous hero to tyrannicide. They needn't be. Some people, when nothing else will stop them, really do need to be killed. Tragic. Not untrue. B/C true, there's nothing wrong w/ Xians making the kill wng.org/opinions/lovin…

This Christmas, once again, we find ourselves reflecting on the meaning of Christmas through the image of Christ in the Rubble. Christ is still under the rubble in Gaza, as children are still being pulled from under the rubble in Gaza. It is heartbreaking that we are still calling and pleading for a ceasefire. Decision makers seem to be content with this war continuing as long as it has. They have decided that Palestinians are dispensable. 44700 killed (not including those under the rubble), including close to 17500 children. 87% of housing units are damaged. Thousands are physically handicapped. Millions are traumatized. It is literally hell on earth in Gaza. How many more need to be sacrificed before decision makers decide enough in enough? We insist: we see the image of Jesus in every child killed. They are precious to God. May we unite this Christmas in lighting a candle for Gaza, and particularly for the children of Gaza. This is beyond symbolism. Let us unite in prayer, and commit ourselves to the cause of ending this genocidal war. We cannot stop talking about Gaza. We can stop advocating. Most importantly, we will not lose our faith and hope in God and the goodness and justice of God.

Trump picks Mike Huckabee as next US ambassador to Israel. He is a longtime backer of the settlement expansion. He is also an evangelical, and Christian Zionist. Does he know that these settlements make the lives of Palestinians, including Palestinian Christians, a living hell?! Does he care about us to begin with?!

“This election was a CAT scan on the American people, and as difficult as it is to say, as hard as it is to name, what it revealed, at least in part, is a frightening affinity for a man of borderless corruption. Donald Trump is no longer an aberration; he is normative.”

@adecort @TomGardner18 @LAReviewofBooks I haven’t read book but as an Eritrean American I am on guard with westerns writing about African leaders. Gardner writes for economist which is owned by the Rothschilds. The economist is pro western business and reflects western interest.

My review of @TomGardner18’s “The Abiy Project” in @LAReviewofBooks. “[A]ll dictatorships ultimately [vanish]. A peaceful Ethiopia is still possible… This is the post-Abiy project that calls for all of our conviction, compassion, and courage today”

Lost in all the lies and conspiracies is the fact that a large portion of Americans believe there’s a group of people so desperately hungry they’ve resorted to eating household pets and their response is “deport them!” or “lock them up!” rather than “let’s get them some food.”

Today I visited the Kisiya family. There were forcebly expelled from their land by the Israeli military, and now they are staying in a tent outside of their land. They were attacked by settlers, and Alice the daughter was arrested, (she was released for now today). In the tent I also met Israeli activists for peace who are in solidarity with the family from Combatants For Peace, and young men from Masafir Yatta who are facing similar challenges and came as well to show solidarity. It was powerful to see Jews and Muslims in solidarity with this Christian family from Bethlehem. Please pray and advocate for this family. I took a picture of the official document that prove their ownership of the land. What the Kisiya family is facing is what we as Palestinians have been enduring for 76 years, namely: Ethnic cleansing. This is what the settler activity is all about.
