Understanding that she took her first flight about three days before I popped into the world, I always get a bit misty-eyed to hear the Warthog is still in the game. We'll both finally be put out to pasture someday, I get it. In the meantime, happy to affirm we're not dead yet.

On Friday, my Dad was honored with the Louisiana Honor Medal by @LAGovJeffLandry for his military service. Early this morning, surrounded by his family, the Lord called him home after 87 years. He was a wonderful father, the best man in my wedding, a frequent travel companion, and a dear friend. I’m thankful that nothing was left unsaid between us. His final words to me were words I heard often throughout my life: “I love you, son.” I will miss him dearly. But because of Christ, death does not have the final word. This is not goodbye—it is only until we meet again.

May his memory be for a blessing. Prayers for Lt. Col. Shah's family and friends. BZ to the students who fought back, subduing and killing the attacker. Be vigilant. fox5dc.com/news/victim-ki…

"Like the Hindenburg crashing into the Titanic." I don't think @rkylesmith much cared for "The Bride!". I'll still see it (& will have only myself to blame). But even if it disappoints, on the plus-side, at least the film gave us this spectacular review! wsj.com/arts-culture/f…

@DDFStrand It varies in quality and pace, but when it's on it's gold. Get through it all and one bonus is you'll have an experience of what enemy love feels like.

Ummmm... Hey Shane... Have you read what the very-much-not-theistic Soviets did in Ukraine during 1932-1933? Or what the very-much-pagan Nazis did in the Holocaust? Or the body count from Pol Pot's massacres? It's fair to say that some Christians have distorted their beliefs and it has had murderous results. But "No one kills with more passion than someone who believes that God is on their side" is, historically speaking, ridiculous. What's more accurate, after the enlightenment, and after the possibility of industrialized murder was invented, is more aligned with Dostoyevsky's idea — "without God, everything is permitted." And that has been the case.
Shane Claiborne@ShaneClaiborne

No one kills with more passion than someone who believes that God is on their side. Every major religion has been distorted by folks who want to justify their hatred and camouflage their bigotry. And Christians are not exempt. People who claim to be Christians are promoting unimaginable violence right now. It is evil. It is wicked. It is an offense to God. Rebuke this violent perversion of our faith in the name of Jesus. And let’s do all we can to stop it. The world will know we are Christians “by our love.” The word Christian means “Christ-like.” Jesus is the Prince of Peace. He blessed the peacemakers and commanded us all to love our enemies. He rebuked his disciples when they resorted to violence. And he insisted that when we live by the sword we die by the sword. He carried a cross, not a sword. He died with mercy on his lips. That is our Savior. God is love. And every person in Iran is made in the image of God.

The JCPOA was not stopping Iran from having a nuclear weapon & the sanctions relief enriched the regime so it cld fund its proxies. - no anytime, anywhere inspections - it had sunsets - didn’t include the missile program, didn’t get to the bottom of PMD According to *Obama’s* original criteria, it was a bad deal. h/t @KatiePavlich
Hudson Institute@HudsonInstitute

The old Iran deal did not include limitations on ballistic missiles or allow for "anytime inspections." It did not prevent Iran from developing its nuclear program. Military action was the only way to protect the Americans and troops in the region, argues @RLHeinrichs.

@aaron_renn Yes & it's a shame. I don't have Theodore Twombly level infatuation w/ AI, but I'm loving learning to leverage the upsides. NB: Exceptions exist, incld. in military, among XianS w/ tech expertise who R more willing to exercise discernment than fall back on rules-based rejection.

I can't remember the last time I read a tech postive or techno-optimistic article from an evangelical. They all seem to be tech negative, or at least emphasize mitigating the downsides of tech (vs. how to seize the upsides). Something seems off.

War is painful but at times necessary. @mlivecche unpacks just war theory and its application to the conflict in Iran. "We can recite the history, and President Trump did this. Starting from 1979 forward, history makes the case."

@RLHeinrichs 100%, of course. But while this is clearly not preventative (which is against JWT), I don't see this as even preemptive. The Iranian regime has been killing Americans for decades. This is absolutely defensive and punitive.

Preemptive attacks are not necessarily in violation of the Just War Doctrine. I don’t know who sent the memo out that says otherwise.

Godspeed to the American and Israeli soldiers carrying out operations against the Islamic regime in Iran. And prayers for the civilians in both Iran and Israel who live under the shadow of this conflict. May courage guide those in uniform. May protection surround the innocent.
