When asked about the recent settlement that prevents the IRS from auditing any Trump family tax records, Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) says President Trump “obviously had claims that he brought against the government as a result of” the Biden administration. “I think when it comes to any agreements that the president has made with the IRS, from my vantage point, you know, I think looking back at what the Biden administration did,” he says. “They certainly weaponized the government and were targeting the president.”

He comenzado a leer Magnifica Humanitas, la encíclica de León XIV, y aunque apenas voy por una primera lectura, creo que no es un texto para “consumir rápido”, sino para detenerse, pensar y dejarse interpelar.
No es solamente una reflexión sobre inteligencia artificial o tecnología. Es, sobre todo, una defensa apasionada de la dignidad humana en un tiempo que muchas veces reduce a las personas a datos, rendimiento, consumo o utilidad.
Me impactó particularmente cómo habla de las “nuevas esclavitudes”: la explotación escondida detrás de lo digital, la manipulación, el control social, la pérdida de la verdad y la tentación de construir un mundo eficiente, pero menos humano.
También me impresionó la cita de Hannah Arendt y esa advertencia sobre el peligro de perder la capacidad de distinguir entre verdad y mentira, entre realidad y ficción. Qué vigente se siente eso hoy. Hace unos días hablaba aquí de eso a propósito de una imagen creada con IA y que tantos dieron por cierta.
No escribo esto desde la idea de haberla estudiado a profundidad todavía, sino desde la convicción de que vale la pena leerla despacio, subrayarla, conversar sobre ella y reflexionarla en serio.
Invito a hombres y mujeres de buena voluntad —creyentes o no— a darse el tiempo de acercarse a este documento. Porque más allá de posiciones ideológicas, toca preguntas esenciales:
¿qué significa seguir siendo humanos?
¿qué tipo de sociedad estamos construyendo?
¿y qué lugar ocupa la dignidad de la persona en medio de tantos cambios?
Creo que es una lectura necesaria para este tiempo.

El alcance de esta encíclica es enorme; gigantesco.
No es solo un documento para especialistas: llegará a millones de personas en parroquias, colegios, universidades y familias de todo el mundo. Cada vez que alguien la cite, explique o comparta, su mensaje se multiplica.
Y ahí está su fuerza.
En un tiempo dominado por algoritmos y manipulación digital, esta encíclica recuerda algo esencial: la conciencia humana, la comunidad y la búsqueda de la verdad siguen teniendo un poder inmenso.
Eso es lo que me transmite Magnifica Humanitas de León XIV: un llamado a seguir siendo humanos, libres y responsables en medio de una revolución tecnológica que puede ser maravillosa, pero también deshumanizante.
Más allá de debates o ideologías, esta encíclica merece ser leída y reflexionada. Porque plantea una gran pregunta de nuestro tiempo:
qué clase de humanidad queremos ser.

Trump just threw a massive wrench into the Iran negotiations. In a lengthy new post, Trump said it should be “mandatory” that Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and others sign onto the Abraham Accords as part of any deal involving Iran.
That comes after Trump reportedly stunned leaders of several Arab and Muslim nations during a Saturday conference call by demanding they normalize relations with Israel if an Iran war deal is reached. According to U.S. officials familiar with the call, leaders, especially from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Pakistan, which do not have formal diplomatic relations with Israel, were caught completely off guard.
“There was silence on the line and Trump joked and asked if they are still there,” one official said.
Now Trump is publicly escalating the demand, saying countries that refuse “should not be part of this Deal.”
Saudi Arabia has repeatedly said normalization with Israel requires an irreversible path toward a Palestinian state, something Netanyahu’s government flatly rejects. Trump is now trying to force some of the most politically sensitive diplomatic issues in the Middle East into an already fragile Iran negotiation.
