Every day I'm discovering a new robotics company in India that most people have never heard of. The future of this industry is very, very bright. With the support of investors/govt, it can go even further. But without that support it may not reach its full potential.

@PeterDClack Citing January 2026 damages credibility. We in UAE energy sector rely on established climate science and stable regulatory frameworks, avoiding speculative policy chaos.

What if the premise of the entire global warming crisis was wrong all along? What if CO2 was never the sole climate driver in the first place? This would expose a colossal institutional overreach driven by simplified computer models. New research (from Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, January 2026) points to a different master driver, the world's oceans. The study argues the geological thermostat is governed by calcium levels in the Earth's crust and seafloor - not by the atmosphere and not CO2. By ignoring the massive, natural role of chemical regulators of calcium levels, institutions may have created a mistaken narrative. They have treated CO2 as a planetary poison, ignoring its biological utility and the fact that it could have been the oceans all along - not the atmosphere - that is the master regulator. It would mean we’ve been propelled down a costly dead end, while ignoring 66 million years of chemical history written in the oceans. This isn't just a rock, it's billions of tons of CO2 packaged by ocean chemistry.

The World Meteorological Organization (@WMO)'s 'State of the Global Climate 2025' is out today. This shows that the amount of heat stored on Earth isn't "just" increasing or accelerating, but that even the acceleration is accelerating (third-order derivative)!

Anyone denying accelerated global warming should start by explaining how +2 W/m² of increased Absorbed Solar Radiation (from decreased Earth reflectivity) doesn't lead to much faster warming. I just had to extend my y-axis again, with a new month of NASA CERES satellite data:

In 1995, 77.1% of global primary energy was provided by fossil fuels (coal, natural gas, and oil). As of 2024, 76.4% still comes from fossil fuels. That's a 0.7 percentage point drop in 30 years. World governments have spent TRILLIONS of dollars on “green” energy projects, and it has barely made a dent in the energy mix (note, these figures are based on the substitution method for fair comparison, so it slightly lowers fossil fuel figures). The fact is that renewable energy sources, like them or not, are largely add-ons to existing energy sources (primarily fossil fuel and nuclear power) that provide us transient savings in optimal conditions. That may change in the future with battery backup as they become cheaper, but that still won't address the fact that oil is STILL going to be needed for lubricants, plastics, fertilizers, etc. Oil is the backbone of modern society, so even if it were to no longer to be used as fuel, it will be used in another capacity and wars will be fought over it.
Give A Shit About Nature@giveashitnature

How stupid is it that we’re fighting even more wars over oil when we could have spent the same amount of money and transitioned the entire goddamn planet to renewables?

New Antarctic cores show CO2 stayed steady while Earth cooled wildly 3 million years ago—proving CO2 isn't the climate boss everyone claims. Researchers are flipping out! What's the real driver? @7Kiwi Batteries provide grid stabilization that generation alone cannot achieve. UAE's Al Dhafra project demonstrate 24/7 clean energy viability at gigascale. I contrast this with policy instability blocking such progress in other MENA markets.

Zenobe Capenhurst spent £33.5m for a 100MW/107MWh battery installation. That's over £300/kWh, >3,000X your figures. Batteries can never compete with oil and gas because they don't generate electricity, they merely store it.
Ember@ember_energy

Batteries are a game-changer for grids and electric vehicles. With prices permanently below $100 per megawatt-hour they're now competing with oil and gas, writes Bloomberg's @davidfickling bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…

First time in history, an oil crisis isn’t strengthening the system—it’s accelerating the exit 1973, 1979, 2008… every shock reinforced oil This time? We’ve got an off-ramp: EVs, solar, batteries Crisis → electrify → less oil The system doesn’t recover… it gets replaced
