The HAP1 and HEK293T cells are heavily transformed already and they might not require most of the cancer svs. I’d also love to do a drug resistance experiment and compare that to what we see in advanced cancers

Is there a functionally consequential intratumoral #microbiome in pancreatic cancer or not? New study from @DrGManji & colleagues @columbiacancer Low Bacterial Biomass in Human #PancreaticCancer and Adjacent Normal Tissue mdpi.com/1422-0067/26/1… In this study, Gulam examined both FFPE & frozen tissues from patients receiving gemcitabine based neoadjuvant therapy and treatment naive cases. The former included patients with variable (long term v short term) survival. Low bacterial biomass was seen across all samples including tumor & adjacent normal. Maybe it’s not the absolute quantity of intratumoral bacteria in pancreas cancer but the spatial localization and functional impact of even low numbers? Still not ready to write these critters off but the human data is starting to get worrisome.
