My primary care doctor always glides in wearing a flowing white robe. Light emanates from his hands as he takes my vitals. The clouds part, the angels sing. All for the low, low price of a $50 copay. Very understandable mistake.

@davidclowery Not for nothing, but that's why some writers turn to AI. It's very lonely writing a novel and you go from being sure it's terrible to being sure it's great, then back again. Not saying it's right to do it, but everything is set up against writers, starting with getting feedback

I’ve often thought of switching from being a songwriter to being a novelist. But I have to confess, the main thing that has stopped me is that I’d go from songwriter friends giving me 5 minute song demos for feedback, to author friends giving me 100,000 word manuscripts to critique. Nobody got time for that.

@binarybits I think it is more an appreciation of the work behind something, even if you don't witness the effort. Those white plastic chairs are useful, but not valued like a hand-crafted chair. That said, the fact that we can make plastic chairs is kind of amazing in its own way!

No secular person is going to say "you shouldn't use AI because you have an immortal soul and ChatGPT doesn't," but on an emotional level that seems to be the objection.
