God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs. In the last 3 (!) negotiations with Iran, the U.S.-Israel have killed the negotiators, including Kamal Kharrazi, 81, who died from his injuries today. His wife was almost killed.
Israel also killed Hamas negotiators every chance they got. We are the least self aware people to ever live.

There is good reason to worry about the safety of our negotiators in Pakistan. The country is armed and dangerous and the government is not fully in control. Previous high level visits were short and they involved decoy aircraft, as when then-President Clinton surreptitiously changed airplanes so no one would know which one he was on. The USSS did not like President Bush going there in 2006. The Secret Service will be tested this trip. So too will the military that supports this mission. Pray for the safety of our negotiators, including the VP, and for their success.

This is probably the topic where the people who are beauty-pilled about architecture have the strongest argument.
Nobody is going to believe that quality of life is higher in West Virginia than Italy and the nature of the built environment is a key reason why.

@mattyglesias @JustinTLogan It is extremely early to actually evaluate the success of the operation in Venezuela. So far, it has been very successful: nearly no civilian deaths and normalisation of bilateral relations. Democratic transition will never be fast.

The Venezuela thing didn't "fail," but it achieved almost nothing.
They told themselves it was some transcendent success, but the Iran thing could not have worked.
