Nobody is buying Chelsea for £4bn (their break even), nobody is buying Spurs for £3bn, nobody is buying United for £5bn. All stuck - new minorities the best hope. It means that fans can protest but ultimately it’s irrelevant. Forthcoming economic environment plus higher for longer interest rates makes it even harder and refinancing much more expensive than envisaged just 3 months ago.

@henrywinter Perhaps the inconsistencies & nature of reporting by hacks has caused this situation where the rules & punishments are confused. A proper journalist by now would have explored the world in which they operate & how the hacks are equally responsible for football's situation.

At some point, senior Premier League execs have to offer a proper explanation in public for their leniency towards Chelsea. They owe an explanation to fans of clubs punished more harshly. They owe an explanation to those clubs who did abide by the rules. They have to offer some explanation as to why PSR breaches are deemed far more serious than acts of "deception and concealment". Yes, these are the offences of a previous regime at Chelsea. But inconsistencies run through the PL's defence and their reputation is damaged. They can’t hide from a controversy of this magnitude.
