@agbcopen You do this by mastering the game. The only way you can master the game is to experience its design as intended. Therefore, not ignoring design.

Dude... Penny's Big Breakaway is so fun. It's such a fantastic hybrid of 2D Sonic's variability and momentum-based nuances, and modern movement-based platformers, with such a standout identity through the yoyo grapple mechanics. Def unpolished but really great designwise.

@agbcopen If you consider applying level knowledge and figuring out where routes intersect, to take humongous majorly difficult shortcuts across those gaps, to be "ignoring the level design", then sure. You'd still be wrong tho :)

games that get criticized for trying to do too much or appeal to too many people often do have very distinct design identities, it's just that their popularity becomes so vast that players uninterested in that identity come to it and try to retrofit the game to their own interest

@HollowLeif My opinions of both games have gone down. I don't think Rush deserves the glaze. It's very mid. On the contrary, I don't think Advance 2 deserves the hate it gets, but I also get that it has a lot of problems.

Gave my younger brother cyber track act 1 and annotated his gameplay to show how the game guides a casual player.
This game has flow if you engage with it's level design even if ur not familiar with it.

@CommonSence7987 absolutely not lol, ive played, replayed and have good feel for basically every 2d sonic (except rush adventure have yet to play), and 3s level design is some of worst and most convoluted in the series with no natural or well designed flow without memorization.

@Kazoka368xy @CommonSence7987 Yeah, enemy placement is a genuine issue on some levels, but Sonic Advance 2 was honestly way worse with it. There's a part in Hot Crater where they place a speed booster right before a grounded enemy that you can't see until you inevitably crash into it.

@CommonSence7987 -totally blown out of proportion. i do wanna see the gameplay of someone who says the game's level design sucks because chances are theyre barely interacting with the level and just trying to brute force till the end
