@LouStagner I agree that trees are the only real hazard for high-swing-speed elite players, but for everyday playability the benefits of removing them far outweigh the negatives.
Removing most trees from a golf course is dumb.
Golf is harder when there is something in the way.
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t want every hole tree-lined on both sides. Not even close.
Trees force different decisions.
Trees force different shot shapes.
Trees force strategic play.
I get that less trees can make the turf healthier…. But essentially clear cutting trees from a course is idiotic.
@aggerj@rggc1926 That’s fantastic!!!
I am a long time Sixer fan (moved to the USA in 1997 and immediately latched onto Iverson) so can’t wait to meet her.

PSA for anybody attending the PGA this week: avoid the clubhouse area at all costs. It’s early on a practice round day and the mix of putting green, 18th green, and shared 1 and 10 tees means huge crowds are stuck in several bottlenecks.
@RichLernerGC how bout a feature on Braden Shattuck - dir of instruction @rggc1926 — remembered when you covered me in Lehigh Valley high school tennis.

Tom Coyne (@coynewriter), editor of @GolfersJournal, has played some of the most exclusive golf courses in the world. But when he visited a nine-hole course in New York's Catskills that had seen better days and was up for sale, he took on a new challenge: running the course for a year to see if he could turn it around.
Coyne talks with Lee Cowan about his efforts to preserve a rural community's beloved course, and about his new book, "A Course Called Home: Adventures of an Accidental Golf Course Owner." cbsn.ws/4eWmMpw
