Selling your company? Don’t take the first offer. Early bids can trap you. Maximize your valuation — create an auction and get top buyers competing. #BusinessTips #Startup #Valuation

What's the #1 way to grow a business? Strengthen your customer base. Leader Systems scaled from $50M to $1B by focusing on helping their resellers grow and be profitable. Their purpose is to share what works. #BusinessGrowth #ScalingUp

Amazon went from 20% of Walmart to #1? Customer obsession. Google’s trillion-dollar leap? A tiny team with soul. Apple powering Siri with Google AI? Apple’s soul via Apple University. Starbucks’ revival? Soul back in the brand. #BusinessStrategy #Leadership #ScalingUp

I can't escape the idea that the secret to success at a commercial software company is the willingness of your executive team to engage, every day, on the #1 priority. Such that - in essence - it crowds all the other priorities out of everyone's calendar. I see a lot of teams that find this distasteful, that somehow this is micro-management. They harbor the (delusional) idea they can occasionally talk about a topic, among many, and the teams will internalize the priority, and take action. I hear a lot 'oh I told everyone that last quarter.' In today's WFH world, the vacuum is filled with THE DAILY CALENDAR. 30 minute slots that blot out everything. And then - equally - these same execs will wonder why nothing is moving very fast. Things aren't getting accomplished. Or worse, the team is working on stuff that doesn't seem all that valuable, in hindsight. I don't think I've ever seen this more clearly articulated than in the book Mastering the Rockefeller Habits. It's an old book at this point (2002?), but it's more relevant than ever. I haven't picked it up in 10 years, but now I feel like I need to go read it again. I looked at the checklist and thought, damn, that's it. That's exactly it. @agilescaleup amazon.com/Mastering-Rock…

Small teams often beat big ones. Why? Social loafing – as groups grow, effort drops. Focused, accountable teams, like those behind Google’s success, get more done. #Teamwork #Productivity #Leadership

To master anything, revisit the fundamentals daily. Scottie Scheffler, despite his achievements, practices his grip with a coach before every round. One great habit can replace three good ones. #GolfTips #Fundamentals
