Because of spammers and abusers - Spammers usually get caught within the first 10-100 emails they send, but even this low of a volume can affect IP reputation and deliverability, and we have to start off new account in the Neutral pool to protect good senders. All new users get assigned to the Neutral pool by default and then get promoted to Good / Better / Best pools or demoted to the Bad pool (or get banned) based on their bounce rate, spaminess, other metrics.

Ok devs what are some good alternatives to sendGrid? I was disappointed that they were bought by Twilio. Never had a good experience there and had difficulty just now even creating an account. How about MailGun? I just need transactional emails, not marketing.
