@ckoglmeier @clairevo mate, you need to lock this down. If all the info in there is real, you've just exposed a lot of private data about your kid to the whole internet. I've sent you a DM with some SS. hoping that I'm wrong and this it's just dummy data.

Also shout-out to @OpenPanelDev for the analytics it provides.

@AxelGarciaK That's the average conversation with a call centre guy 🤣

How do you know you've just found a niche?
Most of the yt videos/articles you check are at least 6 years old.
Working on creating a custom OpenStreetMap that will gather most of the data published by the Scottish Gov, It is a bit of a mess but, man, if you thought that Google gathered tons of data about you then you've just missed out the big brother 👀

I got to a point where I realised that I needed to learn how to find waves and ride them.
You can build whatever you like but getting people to use it will be exponentially harder unless there is some sort of proven demand for that.
Find a niche, see what they want, build it and watch the results.
If they use it, then it might be worth pursuing and further promoting to other people; otherwise, it's time to move on.

@Shpigford Something that will work better will be a Meshtastic device to keep in touch with people around you.

It's peer-to-peer mobile messaging if the telecom goes down, and probably the first thing that will happen.

this seems entirely impractical in a post-apocalyptic scenario...but that doesn't mean i don't want to do it. 🤔

Friend just asked me to build a locally running AI rig for him in case of a disaster. In an emergency he wants to have food & water stores, generators, and AI. Makes sense. A local AI model could talk you through water de-sal, electrical work, hunting and foraging, first aid...

@IonBogdan7 Cel mai probabil, nici nu mă îndoiesc că îi ajută, in mod indirect dar îi ajută.

@davidlovejoyx Thanks @davidlovejoyx, still new to this and priorities are not set straight.
Just need to exit the "fck about and find out mode", pardon my French

@Michael_AdrianT Don't let fear paralyze you.

@danielcranney My bad, I missed the "I" before "Try" and came out rude 😅.
That's what you get when you speed type.

@Michael_AdrianT yeah i'm very much aware of how i use them now. like i use Cursor to build things, and use when i want to read code i wouldnt be able to write myself. Still important to learn separate from the code assistants, in my view

@florinpop17 Props to the guy, although it looks seamless I can bet there was a lot of work involved.

@aroussi @digitalocean True, regardless of that it's interesting to see the status quo shifting away from the cloud.
English

Jumping on the whole VPS vs Cloud debate, I stress-tested a $6/mo @DigitalOcean to see how much traffic it can handle. The results will surprise you.
English

Nice to see the status quo easily shifting from cloud providers back to VPS/ owning your infra
