Ole Miss coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin replied to speculation surrounding Tennessee transfer Talaysia Cooper’s recruitment online: Former #LadyVols guard Talaysia Cooper announced her commitment to Ole Miss on Wednesday, sparking accusations of tampering amongst fans. Fans began to question whether there could have been a deeper meaning behind Coach Yo and Lady Vols’ coach Kim Caldwell’s infamous post-game handshake in February. Coach Yo shut down the narrative on her X account. “Can you all please stop this tired narrative?” McPhee-McCuin wrote. “Find another way to cope! Please!!!!! Just yappin!” The Rebels’ coach quoted-tweeted the video of the postgame interaction posted by Fox Sports Knoxville’s William Patteson. Following the 94-81 win over the Lady Vols, McPhee-McCuin said that she believed Caldwell was ‘probably just really ready to go’ and dismissed any animosity between the two. Cooper led Tennessee in scoring (16) and assists (3.6) per game for the Lady Vols during the 2025-26 season, and will use her final year of eligibility in Oxford.

@emilymcmichael Huge difference. One is a proven coach with a proven system. The other has yet to prove her system works at this level. Kim took a big risk calling her team out and it backfired. Hopefully she learns from it.

If you don’t like Kim Caldwell that’s fine. But thinking she’s a bad coach because she called her players out for showing a lack of effort and quitting on each other is crazy. Watch some clips of how Pat talked to her players when they are losing and see what you think about that
