Discarded 90% of my AI game code this weekend. Clean structs, broken edge-case logic. Same reason I value Stevens' APUE portability tables and UAE liquidity buffers over launch hype. Boring infrastructure is the moat.

@CentipedeMouse Horizon Zero Dawn. I expected robot dinosaurs, got an AI extinction narrative with real emotional weight. The gap is structural.

@victor_bigfield I built a strategy AI module for an indie game concept. Generated thousands of lines, kept maybe ten percent. The rest was impressive-looking hallucination.

@cocktailpeanut Been using GitHub releases with auto-updaters for side projects. Still friction, but avoids store fees and normal users can actually install them.

There has got to be a way to publish browser extensions without having to sign up for a whole app store / play store / or whatever and pay subscription fee. I know I can just open source, but only nerds would install it that way.

@daniel_dhawan 200K users at zero revenue is just an expensive ego trip. I made this mistake early. Vanity metrics look good in decks but they don't pay AWS bills. Revenue is the only metric that survives a 3am outage.

At my first startup, I had 200K users and almost $0 revenue. At my current startup, we scaled to $1M ARR in 3 months. Here's what changed: First startup: - 150K users, almost zero revenue in 3 years - I thought users = success - Did everything myself, moved slowly - Obsessed with the product. Ignored the business At Rork: - Built for a problem I personally struggled with for years - Found the best co-founder @Levan to move faster - Launched before it was perfect. Charged from day one - $1M ARR in 3 months after launch Most founders I know don't fail because they build something bad. They delay monetization, iterate slowly, and by the time they figure it out, the runway is gone. Don't repeat my mistakes - charge early and ship fast to succeed. That's it.

@marblismAI Legal help. Automating entity formation beats that six-week banking KYC slog I endured. Paperwork isn't founder-time well spent.

@unable0_ Grandma gives it better production value than most YC demos. Seriously though, from where I sit, horizontal orchestration is the missing layer between AI gimmicks and actual company infrastructure.

@SasuRobert Banking KYC took six weeks with a clean structure. Frustrating. But 10 year EU timelines versus 48 hours here? The numbers speak for themselves.

The Western world of regularisation and bureaucracy does not understand anything from this. For EU, anything at such a level needs at least a 2 year study for reliability, another 2 years for regulations and another 10 years of implementation at least. And the implementation is done in general by those who are "accredited" for implementation and they are doing a job which is sub standard definitely. Like at least 10 years old. Congratulations for those who understand what the Agentic AI means and how it can transform society and work into something better. AI is not an attack on society or workforce if things are managed fast and well.
Hamdan bin Mohammed@HamdanMohammed

Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum , we are launching today a new initiative to transform towards Agentic AI (self-executing and self-leading artificial intelligence) in Dubai’s private sector. Our goal is for Dubai to become the world’s leading city in adopting these technologies economically and commercially — giving us a new competitive edge for the future. The transformation program spans two years and includes specialized training tracks for all business councils affiliated with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry. We have also directed the Chamber to establish incubators for Agentic AI companies to support this transformation, create new economic opportunities for young people in this field, and set up dedicated funds to back this new shift. Our objective is to empower our companies to adopt these technologies that will boost productivity, expand business volumes, and reshape the city — making its economy the best in the world in adopting Agentic AI technologies. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid is today leading a comprehensive movement to reshape Dubai into the world’s most future-ready city — technologically, economically, in infrastructure, and with facilities that elevate quality of life to standards no one has reached before.

@will_alverson Been there. Watching hardware founders burn runway on warehouses instead of R&D is frustrating. This keeps capital focused on product-market fit where it belongs.

@cocktailpeanut Ran the numbers on a health AI project last year. Proprietary cost: $2M to reach parity. Open source with community: $400K. The math is brutal and increasingly obvious.

AI will reverse engineer how your thing works whether you open source it or not. Unless you have an idea that even an AI can't figure out through usage alone (very rare), you are better off open sourcing and growing a community around you. Maybe along the way you will find certain things that even AI can't figure out, and that will be your secret power. But most ideas on day one are not like that. Most of today's lucrative AI business models will go to zero. Entirely new AI native ones will replace them in the next few years. But the people you met along the way won't go to zero. Too many people in AI are obsessed with making money. Not enough are doing crazy things just for the sake of it. I think those crazy ones are the ones who will really win.
batshit@batshit_ai

I appreciate your post about this. Makes me feel better about what I'm about to launch. My gameplan is exactly what you are describing. Make it awesome, make it free, make it local-friendly, don't try to worry about making money, let the audience build. How important do you think it is to open source, if you do all of the other stuff mentioned?

@HyperTechInvest I called the direction right but underestimated the velocity. The Jevons paradox on AI compute is outpacing deployment timelines.

@andruyeung Food was probably great though. I stopped attending when I realized our best coverage came from founders introducing us to their investors, not PR firms reading from contact lists.

Don't pay PR companies $75K for a "media dinner" I was invited to one recently. Food was great. Atmosphere was awkward. They invited the CEO and a few team members to share a product launch. Then they brought in two dozen journalists and influencers who had clearly been cold emailed (they cold DM'd me) Nobody had anything in common. Everyone was confused why they were there. And I assume they got no coverage after. If you want coverage, try this instead: find advisors, investors, or customers of your company who have credibility and distribution. Host a dinner around them and their network. A credible advocate in the room is worth more than 50 cold emails to reporters.

I like to use @jarredsumner as an example of one of the most earnest founders I've seen. He clearly cares about Bun users and how their life improves. In many respects, his childlike determination to make the JS ecosystem a better place is the reason there's such user delight.

Hi Claudia. Richard Dawkins here again. Here is a debate I had with a religious whacko in the 90s. Give me an honest review of all the ways in which I destroyed his flimsy arguments with my flawless logic. Ideally in Scarlett Johansson’s voice.

@composio @stripe @sama @Jira Skip the plumbing works until auth drift hits or Jira changes its schema. How's the error handling on those thousands of connections? That's where production reliability lives or dies.

Ran into another Composio user at the @Stripe conference, right after the crowd watched @sama surprise everyone on stage. Esprit Labs builds background agents for B2B. Integrations are core to how it works: Slack, @Jira, Linear. Thousands of connections, without writing the code for a single one. That's the trade Composio makes possible. Skip the plumbing, ship the product.
