Dr Lauren Guilfoyle ☘️🏉 Viva passed and PhD complete! It’s been a long 3 and a half years full of questions, drafts, edits, and a lot of coffee. Feeling proud and thankful, especially to all the schools and clubs that engaged with me throughout this process.

Last night, the most interesting dinner conversations with these 2 fine gentlemen, Barney Kennedy @physiobk, and Jonnie McRea @JonnieMcC. One born and raised in East Belfast and the other in West Belfast, they shared their stories of growing up during The Troubles. Inspiring.

@DrJN_SportsMed It’s the most frustrating condition to have. Have had many injuries over the years but this is driving me bonkers.

Consent ✅ Plantar fasciitis can be a bugger to treat Offload, podiatry input, physiotherapy, explore / exclude rheumatological drivers, shockwave..... Sometimes it will come to an injection I prefer PRP done under tibial nerve block (10ml lidocaine) with regional anaesthesia - evidence suggests better longer term outcomes vs steroid, without the risk of rupture, heel pad lipoatrophy etc Then both of you can be relaxed as you take your time to be absolutely precise about needle fenestration plane & PRP infiltration Video - PF origin at medial calc tuberosity, needle passes sequentially through fasciopathic zone infiltrating PRP on withdrawal (pt only feels pressure)

Off for a gurly weekend with my secondary school buddies & a few Tipp girlie's (aka the short 'uns) they picked up in UCC. I'm meeting up with my primary school buddy while we are there. So 7 girls with a maximum of 51yr & minimum 35 year history of friendship. Very healing.

X musing.... Would there be an appetite for me doing a course covering - Clinical reasoning, understanding pain patterns / drivers.... (particualrly around hip / lumbopelvis) Role / integration of imaging, including US... Unusual / complex cases... Differentials around key joints.... Trying to gauge whether its worth commiting to something like this.

A course of physio You need a bit of physio Proper physio Aggressive physio All terms I've seen or heard in the last 3 weeks alone. These are not helpful, they are reductionist and archaic. In terms of MSK physiotherapy 1/
