From 2:30 pm to 9:09 pm on April 27, 2011, there wasn't a single moment where there wasn't an EF-4 or EF-5 tornado on the ground. At a few times there were as many as four ongoing concurrently. That is one of the craziest statistic of 15 years ago.

🚨#BREAKING: Watch as additional footage from earlier during the Tornado Emergency shows a violent tornado passing dangerously close to multiple people filming as it strikes near or at Vance Air Force Base in Enid Oklahoma. Dozens of reports indicate numerous buildings have been flattened, with cars violently thrown through the air as the tornado rips through the area. Earth goes hard: Earth is an interesting place to say the least. It’s mostly water, but we call our planet by the name of which we live on, sleep on, fight on, love on, build on, and grow on…. Earth.
As of right now, it’s the only home we have. It would be sweet if we had a second planet to run away to, cherish, expand, flourish, and protect, but we don’t.
We have Earth. All of us.
Earth isn’t this calm island in the vastness of space. Earth is volatile, regions where humans live at -90°F, places we call Death Valley that reach 134°F, ice covered peaks that reach to the stars, and unforgiving oceans deeper than most can fathom.
We have floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, and wildfires. Wildland firefighters go out everyday to protect the natural beauty of Earth’s forests, rangelands, and its awe inspiring wilderness.
Stewards of this land that in all its natural turmoil is undeniably beautiful. Raw beauty, raw power, and grand life giving landscapes that disappear over the horizon with the setting Sun.
But it’s the only home we have… and that should never be forgotten. And despite the conflict and struggles that come with living on such a unique and magnificent home, it’s our duty to take care of it for those that come after us, both human and animal alike.

Sounds reasonable! Matty, why don’t you articulate one they might actually accept? Normally, a people fight for the cause they actually want. Do Palestinians fight for two states, or for any of the goals our imagination projects onto them? Would they now accept the Olmert map they rejected, or something close to it? Hamas fights for the total destruction of Israel, and Hamas has majority support in the West Bank as well. You don’t need to be brilliant to see the problem: Israeli articulations of an endgame do not affect this conflict. It requires a Palestinian leader willing to articulate one, backed by a critical mass of support sufficient to implement and sustain it without ending up hanging from a crane. Sadat is precedent. It doesn't require imagination to understand. Until he emerged, nobody gave a shit about Israeli articulations.
