@the_roadie_ @jenstridonkai In response to you bringing it up hence the “” .. It’s pointless discussing it as you’re obviously biased

@aimees_driving @jenstridonkai Here you are again. this is you speaking of "right", not me. twitter.com/aimees_driving…
Aimee@aimees_driving

@the_roadie_ @jenstridonkai The article says 80% of cyclists hold a driving licence, doesn’t mean they use it .. Just because you need a licence to drive and not to cycle does not mean cyclists have a “right” to the roads don’t try and twist the laws to suit besides I said all roads users have equal rights!

@the_roadie_ @jenstridonkai No that’s what you turned it into and all you’ve done is highlight the divide you claim doesn’t exist as you’re clearly more for cyclists where as I am impartial

@aimees_driving @jenstridonkai No. We are discussing "right" to use the road, remember? Motorists are licensed, cyclists are there by right. Please, this is so simple.

@aimees_driving @jenstridonkai Yes, I am quoting the law as it stands: cyclists have a right to the roads and drivers do not. That is why drivers need a licence; they are licensed to use the roads; they do not have a right to the roads. Cyclists do have a right to the roads, they do not need to be licenced.

@BikeRider365 @the_roadie_ @jenstridonkai That would be a raised cycle path not a public footpath and I was being sarcastic highlighting the word public meaning the public not just cyclists!

@BikeRider365 @the_roadie_ @jenstridonkai Over “public” land? So cyclists are allowed to ride on the “public” footpath? .. And I don’t actually know what it’s got to do with cars and cyclists which r04DiE and I was discussing

@the_roadie_ @jenstridonkai You’re implying cyclists have more of a right to be in the roads because they’re not licenced and motorists are and it’s simply not true whether I’m a driving instructor or not has nothing to do with it!

@aimees_driving @jenstridonkai Here is you saying that cyclists do not have a right to the roads. And use of the roads is not equal between users. Cyclists have a right, drivers are there by licence. Like I said, you should know this. twitter.com/aimees_driving…

@BikeRider365 @the_roadie_ @jenstridonkai What are you talking about?! You’re the one that said cyclists, horse riders, pedestrians had right of way over motorists, now you can’t have right of way over someone? 🤔

@BikeRider365 @the_roadie_ @jenstridonkai At what point in the Highway Code does it state they have right of way over motorists? It is very ambiguous in places and can be misconstrued easily but at no point does it state right of way!

@the_roadie_ @jenstridonkai No it doesn’t but I wasn’t the one who assumed one way or another and if you actually read what I’ve said I’ve never disputed they have a right to be on the roads I just said it wasn’t over motorists, it’s equal. I’m being neutral, you’re putting cyclists over motorists

@aimees_driving @jenstridonkai Doesn't mean they don't use it either. And cyclists *do* have a *right* to the roads *by law*, as do pedestrians. Motorists *do not* have a right to the roads, hence the licensing of them.

@aimees_driving @jenstridonkai Well, it is a fact. So do 80% of people on bikes hate themselves? Motorists do not have a right to the roads by law, they are licensed to use it. Cyclists do have a right to the roads. You should know this being a driving instructor. And I am also a driver, not just a cyclist.

@the_roadie_ @jenstridonkai I asked you if that was a fact!! Yes all road users should be treated equally as in they all have the right to be on the roads. They do, that does not mean that they have extra priority and your comment clearly comes from a cyclists point of view proving my point!

@aimees_driving @jenstridonkai 80% of adult cyclists also drive, so the split you talk about is absurd. Also, what have rules got to do with anything, I though this was about modal filtering and why you don't like it?

@the_roadie_ @jenstridonkai Is that a fact cause if you spend as much time on the road as I do you would clearly see the divide and if you’ve read the debates about the LTN’s you would also see it .. My point was regarding to my stand of treating all road users equally

@the_roadie_ @jenstridonkai I implied one community and if you don’t believe there’s a split between some motorists and cyclists then you are naive .. As a driving instructor all road users exist, car, cyclist and pedestrian but they all have to abide by the same rules!

@the_roadie_ @jenstridonkai I’m all for alternative travel methods, I walk/run where I can and would consider an electric car if I could but this LTN is not the way to go. All it’s done is split the car/cycling community and caused discord, there has to be a well consulted solution for us all as a community
