बी.एड. धारकों के लिए सहायक शिक्षक (विज्ञान प्रयोगशाला) पदों पर ओपन काउंसिलिंग के तहत 20 जून को 300 में से 297 अभ्यर्थियों ने भाग लिया। अब तक 1200 में से 1190 अभ्यर्थी काउंसिलिंग में शामिल हो चुके हैं। यह मुख्यमंत्री श्री विष्णु देव साय के नेतृत्व में एक संवेदनशील और दूरदर्शी निर्णय है, जो सेवा से वंचित शिक्षकों को दोबारा अवसर प्रदान कर रहा है। काउंसिलिंग प्रक्रिया 26 जून तक चलेगी।

Jain, a 1989-batch IAS officer, was appointed Chief Secretary in November 2020 under the previous Congress-led Bhupesh Baghel government and is officially due to retire on July 31, 2025. However, despite the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) now firmly in power, the administration has moved to retain Jain beyond his superannuation, triggering sharp unease among several senior BJP insiders. Well-placed political sources revealed that all procedural clearances for Jain’s extension are effectively in place. Notably, despite the presence of senior, experienced IAS officers in Chhattisgarh — including Subrat Sahoo, Renu Pillay, and Manoj Pingua — the government has opted for continuity. Observers point out that while Jain has been empanelled for Secretary-level posts at the Centre, he chose to stay in the state, consolidating his position as Chief Secretary even during the political changeover. Behind closed doors, this decision has stirred resentment. According to a senior BJP leader widely regarded as a firebrand whistleblower, “This is not about personal dislike — it’s about how governance has been conducted. Amitabh Jain is seen as someone who worked hand-in-glove with the previous Congress government, especially in shielding politically sensitive cases under ED and Income Tax lens. Many in our party raised red flags over his bureaucratic inaction when multi-crore scams were flagged, but not only did he survive — he outmanoeuvred everyone and held onto power. One must admit, even critics quietly admire his administrative endurance, but that does not erase the deep discomfort within the BJP over what this extension represents politically.” Interestingly, only a few months ago, Jain had applied for the post of Chief Information Commissioner of Chhattisgarh, signalling possible retirement plans. But with the extension now lined up, that option appears redundant. For political watchers, the upcoming official notification will mark not just an administrative continuation but also a test of how the ruling BJP balances its internal dissent, long-term governance priorities, and its public commitment to accountability — especially when dealing with entrenched bureaucratic power.
