Deeply condemn the shocking firing incident during a marriage function where our Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Dy CM Surinder Choudhary , Advisor to HCM @nasirsogami , MLA @ajazjan and myself besides Senior leaders Ajay Kumar Sadhotra and Rattan Lal Gupta were also present. By the grace of Almighty, it was a miraculous escape for Farooq Sahab and every of us is safe Alhamduli'Allah. This is a serious breach of security. How did an armed person manage to enter the venue where a Z+ protectee was present? This raises grave questions about the security arrangements. I strongly condemn this act and urge the DGP @JmuKmrPolice to take immediate cognizance of the matter. A thorough probe must be conducted and stern action taken against the culprit as well as those responsible for this lapse. Heads must roll.

When we were departing from the function... a man came from behind and he ran very fast and placed his revolver on the back of Doctor Sahib (Farooq Abdullah) and he fired, but his shot missed... The people who were with Doctor Sahib's (Farooq Abdullah) security people caught him in a moment, made him fall down, pressed him, and with great difficulty, we took the pistol from him. Then we left from there and came back home. It is a very unfortunate part that the gun reached inside the wedding... but let's be thankful that everyone is fine... Farooq Abdullah is absolutely fine. He has gone to his room to rest..." He adds, "He (attacker) is currently being held by the police, and an investigation is underway. Only the police can tell you about him. His hair was slightly white... Nothing else is known about him yet... No one was injured in the incident..."
