Man United and Marcus Rashford are eager to resolve the forward’s future quickly, the Daily Mail reports. The 28-year-old has had a successful spell with Barcelona, helping the club secure the La Liga title with a brilliant free-kick against Real Madrid last weekend. Barcelona want to keep Rashford, while the player himself hopes to stay at the La Liga club as well. However, United have rejected Barcelona's efforts to extend his loan or renegotiate the £26m option to buy included in the current agreement. If no compromise is reached, Rashford could return to Old Trafford, although there is little expectation he will play for the club again. United are aiming to reduce their wage bill, and at £315,000-a-week, Rashford is set to become the club’s highest earner once Casemiro departs.

APPOINT CARRICK NOW - TYRONE MARSHALL With fewer than two weeks left in the season, Manchester United need to stop stalling and hand Michael Carrick the permanent manager's job before they head to Brighton on May 24, Manchester Evening News' Tyrone Marshall argues. Since taking over in January, Carrick has collected more Premier League points than any other side, winning 10 of his 14 games in charge and guiding United to third place — and a Champions League return. He has brought calm to a club that was chaotic under both Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim. United have done their due diligence on other candidates. Reported targets among the so-called "elite" managers have taken themselves out of the running, while the likes of Andoni Iraola and Oliver Glasner — both worthy of bigger stages — remain untested at this level. Carrick himself has called for "clarity," saying it's "just the natural time" for a decision. Letting uncertainty linger into the summer — with players dispersing for international duty and a World Cup — only breeds unnecessary noise around the club. United should make it official before the curtain comes down, Marshall writes. Give Carrick the platform to address his squad as the permanent head coach, set the agenda for pre-season, and usher in the new era on his terms.

Andoni Iraola has been ruled out of contention for the job as Man United head coach. The club insists that no decision has been made yet, but the outgoing Bournemouth boss is no longer under consideration at Old Trafford, leaving him free to pursue opportunities at Crystal Palace or Chelsea. According to the Daily Mail.

Former Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has urged the club to activate their purchase option for Marcus Rashford, insisting it would be "insane" to let the Manchester United loanee leave for just £30m this summer, as quoted by AS. "If Barcelona lets him return to Manchester United after this loan, I think they will regret it immensely," Koeman said. "Because 30 million in the current market for a player with these characteristics, these numbers, this experience… that's a rip-off?" Said Koeman. Koeman was particularly effusive about Rashford's El Clasico display, adding: "Rashford hurts teams. Madrid looked terrified every time he turned and ran. Against Real Madrid, he completely destroyed them on the counter-attack. The speed, the aggression, the directness, the confidence — Madrid couldn't handle him." He added. Barcelona are already exploring other options for the left wing, with Rashford's chances of staying looking increasingly slim given the costs involved and Manchester United's unwillingness to discuss a second loan or a discount on the fee. Rashford himself has made his desire to stay clear, saying: "I don't know. I'm not a magician, but if I were, I'd stay."

@SimonEldridge11 I'm just putting out the info. We all know that Man Utd legends always have strong opinions about the clubs activities. Wether it translates to actual action from the club's hierarchy is another story.

Paul Scholes has thrown his weight behind Manchester United in the race to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson — putting them ahead of rivals Manchester City in the queue. Speaking on talkSPORT, the United legend was unequivocal: "Newcastle had to sell him, didn't they, with the PSR and that kind of stuff. But yeah, what I've seen of him has been nothing short of brilliant, really. "What he's done for Forest has really been Europa League. Scholes also backed the 23-year-old to handle the step up to the Champions League — a competition United will be back in next season. "He's still got to go to that next level and he's done it with England. England games are very hard to gauge really because I don't think they're playing the best competition until they get to the World Cup." When bigger games come, then we'll get a better idea and he will still have to test himself in the Champions League. But he looks to me like he'd be able to handle it. Absolutely no problem." Both Manchester clubs have already held talks with Anderson's camp, with Forest bracing for a wave of offers ahead of the World Cup. The Reds are expected to demand around £100m for the England international, who is contracted to the City Ground until 2029. Anderson has been one of the standout midfielders in the Premier League this season, registering 4 goals and 3 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions for Forest.

Man United academy prospect Amir Ibragimov is weighing up his future on the international stage. This is according to the Manchester Evening News. The Man United U18 captain has represented England at the U15 and U16 levels. However, he has now been included in Russia's expanded senior squad for their upcoming friendlies. Ibragimov is eligible to represent both England and Russia. He has not yet committed to either country and has not confirmed if he will accept Russia's call-up. The midfielder might have an easier path towards international football with Russia than with England. However, UEFA has banned Russia after the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and they have not played an official match since then.

APC IS THE WORSE THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO NIGERIA. This trending news that REGRESSIVE governors of APC are saving money from their state monthly allocations to fund the re-election of BAT is very troubling. This is very disturbing to even imagine. That these people can do this prioritizing winning elections rather than governance and the well-being of their state populace means that they place zero value to their state citizens. If this is true then this is pure wickedness and heartlessness. And yet some people are supporting these actions. 2027 election is about life and dæth, chose one.

Nuhu Ribadu, @NuhuRibadu, is my friend, and I will say it plainly: very few Nigerians have spent as much of their life chasing hard problems as he has. Watching him sit with Vice President Vance, Secretary Rubio, and the US national security establishment this week, I was reminded why. This was not a courtesy call. This was Nigeria's NSA walking into Washington with a mandate, a brief, and the standing to be heard. Intelligence sharing, military cooperation, the Joint Working Group (the unglamorous machinery that actually keeps citizens alive). Nuhu has never been loud. He has always been effective. Nigeria is safer for it. Bravo, my brother.
