@vdtankov Huh? I thought for Air you guys are using Kotlin Desktop Toolkit github.com/JetBrains/kotl… ? Given you are using Compose Multiplatform on top of Kotlin Desktop Toolkit, are you able to do hot-reload/live-preview during development?

On Desktop, Air renders via a Skia-backed canvas with declarative UI powered by Compose Multiplatform. The result: writing desktop UI actually feels good for our developers. That happens rarely in the wild.

We released air.dev — a new Agentic Development Environment by JetBrains. Claude, Gemini, Codex, and Junie side-by-side with you — powered by code insight, beautiful UI, and vast development tooling. But underneath there's a technological iceberg. Let me walk you through it. 🧵

@leerob @p1rallels @mitsuhiko I suppose you didn't read what p1rallels mentioned above. They aren't able to tell _their_ own tools with Cursor models. ACP doesn't let them replace the tools provided by Cursor with the tools they want to supply & use.

Does anyone know if there is a way to use composer 2 via API on a non cursor harness?

@mitsuhiko curious, why does the answer extension of yours for Pi opts for Q&A format instead of multi-choice questions + additional notes format? did you find answering the questions this way better than MCQ?

@andy_matuschak So that the model can see each frame and infer what you mean. But then you've already put so much effort going through this ordeal. You also lose on happy accidents. Instead of thinking in terms of vibecoding as a _replacement_, a better way to think would be [...]

@zcbenz heya! I suppose given you have taken up Apple work, development on Yue would be paused. What would be the next best GUI app framework that you'd recommend to look at?

I started porting DrawBot to Rust today, and already have a basic working application. DrawBot is Mac only and built on Python. There is a cross-platform version (DrawBot-Skia), but it is incomplete and unmaintained. I do most of my design work on Linux, and 90% of the programming I do is Rust, so just rewriting everything in Rust is easier than trying to get DrawBot-Skia updated.

Clojure: > Almost no syntax > Powerful standard library > Huge ecosystem from JVM world > Seamless Java interop > REPL-driven development makes feedback instant > GC is fast and battle-tested > ClojureScript for frontend > Cool community

> Brain-dead simple syntax > Great stdlib > Loads of libraries > Decent enough C inter-op > Compiler compiles around 100k lines of code per second (so pretty much instant). > Green threads make it really easy to do stuff in parallel. > Very fast garbage collector. > You can embed assets into the exe file making distribution a breeze

@roman01la heya I saw your post romanliutikov.com/blog/building-… and was curious whether you have an implementation of using Skia in SBCL (and possibly having instructions on how to run it). If you do, could you please give a link? Or if you have it on drive, upload to GitHub?

As software gets easier to make, the products that stand out will be the ones crafted with uncommon care. If that's the kind of work you want to do, I'm sharing everything I know: interfacecraft.dev
