I talked to a couple of #kubball players about coach Bill Self and their thoughts on people saying KU should move on or Self is “washed.”
All of them pushed back against that sentiment.

I think a lot of hate went to Elmarko last night… but upon further review this morning what the fuck is the Big12 DPOY- that is one of the best shot blockers in the country- doing not jumping for that

@tyler_rucker He had one half against BYU and 2 late threes against Texas Tech. Otherwise we didn’t get anything even remotely close to this DP over the other 33 games

Also, no need to shoot every time the ball stays in your hands.
KU would be so much better if tiller would crash the boards and play inside out, and if Tre white you play more like Jalen Wilson and not trying to chuck 3’s

Two games ago, Bryson Tiller was benched. He told me he was shocked, but called it a learning experience. Since then his teammates and Self have encouraged him/ pushed him because they know they need his best vs. St. John’s. #kubball kansascity.com/sports/college…

@bewarephog Hmmm, crazy how that works. Turns out if you put in a player that doesn’t play in an offense, the team stops moving the ball and running plays like they’re all used to doing. Suddenly the offense doesn’t work anymore

The Kansas roster was great for a lot of the year. Everyone hit a slump at the same time ironically when Darryn Peterson returned.

I’ll never forget the Kansas fans that wanted to kick Darryn Peterson off the team and shut him down. Would’ve been like getting rid of an elite quarterback before the playoffs.

Like most teams, St John’s is selling out guarding DP…and they have the dawgs to make it difficult.
It’s not a matter of “just get it to Darryn.”
Also…at least 2-3 of those shots were with the clock running down off a pass from…Darryn Peterson.

His coach has to be on him for this. Peterson not leading this squad in shots today is ridiculous. I wonder what they’re averaging per possession when Peterson doesn’t touch it? It has to be around 0.5 ppp.

Let’s not forget what Bill Self has done at KU. He’s won 16 Big 12 regular season championships, 9 Big 12 Tournament championships, and 2 national championships during his tenure. Very few programs in the country can say they’ve been as consistently successful as KU.
