Paul Skenes is trying to save his arm for October and I love it. I really do.
Losing this game will mean nothing if we are just in the playoffs, and that is where we are gonna need Skenes to go demon mode and pitch with complete dominance. If going easier in the regular season is how you do it, that’s completely fine. Who gives a shit
HOWEVER, this all assumes you make the playoffs. This all assumes that the team wins, and right now when he’s pitching they aren’t. There’s a lot of reasons for that that aren’t Skenes’ fault, but I think it’s to the point where I think he’s doing too little.
He needs to go longer and he needs to give up fewer runs. He threw over 100 pitches in just over 5 innings; that is not the Paul Skenes I know

@Veno202 The value for closers has never made sense to me. Sure, they are a guaranteed inning win, but 1 inning usually every other game? Theres so many things I’d rather have than him. Shoot, I’d rather have an elite inning eater like mlodzinki than a closer for an elite price.

It wouldn’t be worth it trading Jones or Bubba for Miller, that’s way too much value for a reliever.
Carmen Mlodzinski on the other hand, alongside some high profile prospects, could work.

I don’t know why the Padres would trade Mason Miller unless they fully bottom out before the deadline. It’s still gonna cost a ton to get him. Cost a top-5 prospect in baseball and more for the Padres to get him and he’s been better since (less years of control though)

It dropped the horror completely that made 2 so great and became full on comedy/action and dark fantasy.

Thomas Harrington has been quite bad this year (6.52 ERA in 58 IP) and his avg fastball velocity is all the way down to 90.5 mph.
I don’t know what they think he can contribute right now.
