Luton manager Jack Wilshere on Stevenage's 'goal' yesterday: "There’s going to be more to come on that over the next few days from a lot of clubs, because ultimately that goal there keeps some clubs out of the play-offs. It stops some clubs from having an opportunity to number one, get to the Championship, but what that means getting to the Championship, the financial gains and what that means to the club. "We’re in League One next year and I’ve got a meeting next week about what the budget is going to be and who do we need to cut. That’s people's livelihoods at stake just because of one decision and really, really not good enough across the season and it has to change." 😬 #ltfc #StevenageFC

@jm_bell95 He’s a league one keeper. If he never made mistakes he wouldn’t be playing league 1 football. It really is that simple.

An incredible 52-year journey comes to an end. Following extensive consideration, BBC Sport has made the difficult decision to say goodbye to Football Focus at the end of this season. First broadcast in 1974, Football Focus is a testament to the brilliant team who have worked on it over the years and, of course, the audience. The programme has been a staple of the BBC’s football coverage for decades, providing fans with interviews, analysis and stories from across the game ahead of the weekend’s fixtures. But changing audience behaviours mean fans are now increasingly consuming football content in different ways and we need to respond appropriately as we face difficult decisions around how the licence fee is spent. Fans are accessing discussion, highlights, analysis and news through digital platforms and on-demand viewing and as viewing habits continue to evolve, it is right that BBC Sport adapts how it brings football coverage to the widest audiences across television, radio, online and to its extensive social platforms. BBC Sport boasts a strong football rights portfolio and is set to significantly expand its digital output this year growing content across BBC platforms, as well as a bold new slate of exclusive shows on YouTube. Featuring fresh formats, big personalities and more frequent, always-on content tailored for digital audiences, the expansion will bring fans closer to the game than ever before delivering more high-quality, accessible and engaging football coverage at scale. We will release further details on these plans in the coming months.

NEW: Lincoln City promoted to second tier of English football for first time in 65 years. They’ve done it with a wage cap of £3,500 per week, seventh lowest budget in League and lowest average possession. Inside their remarkable rise. nytimes.com/athletic/71679…

@jm_bell95 Let's be fair, Hazard does this every game between the 60th and 65th minute. He didn't yesterday because Bonham went down first. 61st minute if memory serves.

So let me get this straight, whilst yes most teams have done it at some point, Argyle included... I've not seen a manager be so upfront and honest that he has cheated in a game? We just going to let that slide are we? #pafc

Steven Schumacher told Bolton goalkeeper Jack Bonham to go down to the ground twice during his side's 2-1 win against Argyle to break up play. "Every team does it to us in every game we play but today I had to do it twice." Read More: ⬇️ #pafc plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/football…

@THSTOfficial You're supposed to be representative of the fans. What dialogue have you sought before producing a statement. "Our preference". The trust isn't about your preference. You've forgotten the core point of your being.

@FootballCliches It's complete bollocks. However, my old man did once get off a flight at Cardiff and put 'Home' in his sat nav. He was halfway to Norwich when he realised he now lived in Plymouth.

I have to say, with the stakes fairly low for me to do so, that I think this Exeter story is either complete bollocks or almost entirely bollocks

I don’t know if it’s just the echo-chamber of my Twitter algorithm but it really does feel, this season in particular, as though a hell of a lot of people are falling out of love with the Premier League. Crucially not with football as a whole but with the Prem particularly.
Green Scouser@Green_Scouser

Does any neutral fan enjoy watching games of football anymore when their team isn't involved? I think the PL is at its lowest ever level in terms of entertainment. The nonsense during det pieces, poor standard of refereeing and too much play acting has made it unwatchable
