Colombia just expanded a coastal wildlife sanctuary to more than 220,000 acres and placed much of it under the co-management of Afro-Colombian communities living there.
The protected area includes some of the world’s most important nesting beaches for leatherback sea turtles, the largest sea turtles on Earth. WWF
The model matters as much as the expansion itself.
The communities that have lived, fished and cared for these coasts for generations are not being removed from conservation.
They are leading it.
Some of the strongest environmental protection on Earth happens when local communities are treated as guardians instead of obstacles.

A 3rd world country does not exist because of its location; but exists because of its people. This highlights the gravity of not bringing the 3rd world to the West. Canada is a prime example, where Canadians now suffer a continuing lowering standard of living due to immigration.
