sunghoon is truly a sweetheart. all of the people who interacted with him spoke kindly of him. they praised his kindness and thoughtfulness as a person.

this story shared by a former trainee who trained with sunghoon 🥹🫳🏻 “i’m a former athlete who trained with sunghoon back then and an engene friend suggested i share this so i’ll leave a few stories. we overlapped during a training camp for about a week, so we saw each other often. since our coaches were close, i met sunghoon a lot and we became close pretty quickly. one time our dinner times overlapped, and i remember he used to eat his rice one grain at a time. and while we were eating, my friends and i said “that oppa looks like he could become an idol” and thinking about it now is kind of embarrassing… also once while i was practicing, i scraped my knee and it started bleeding. i can’t forget sunghoon wearing a taeguk-marked jersey, coming over right away bending down and asking if i was okay… and whenever there was free time, he would either nap with a cute puppy blanket or play around with his friends doing jump rope tricks like nunchucks, or having little figure skating battles!! that’s mostly what he used to do… for a high school boy, he was really pure he didn’t even swear. even when his friends joked around he’d just go along with it or say something like “hey, go away!!” at most? so his nickname was “coach’s puppy” and he was incredibly hardworking. i often saw him get teary eyed after falling while practicing triple axels. he also sincerely listened to my worries (even tho i was just a kid back then) and told me to eat well… i remember that. i hope that from now on, he receives lots of love not only on the ice, but everywhere” 😭

sunghoon knows his way to words. i think he’s kinda underrated when it comes to this. but seriously, he’s eloquent. i wanna read and listen to his words all day.
