This is Devon Mboya, a young man from Githurai who was sentenced to death today at Makadara Law Courts for robbery with violence. On 30th October 2022, Devon was riding on a motorcycle in Thindigua and snatched the mobile phone of Keagan Benson Githua, a 24 year old student at Strathmore University. Together with his rider, Devon noticed that the young man was also carrying a backpack and returned to rob him again. It was 10:30am, so when the young man resisted, reminding them that they had already taken his phone, he stabbed him in the neck and took off with the bag, which had his laptop. Devon had been a beneficiary of misplaced mercy before. At one point in 2021, he had stolen from his friends and called his parent to ask what to do with him, because they were ready to send him to his maker. She advised against it, and he was taken to a police cell and later forgiven. Had he suffered the consequences of stealing, he would have gone to prison for a few years, come out and made something of his life. Now he will be locked in prison for the rest of his life and to top it all off, Keagan Benson Githua is dead because of a mobile phone and a laptop. What a waste !
