Seismic activity on Catcott Lows! During a short windy storm on Thursday a large floating Island appeared . It had broken away from the Taifa ( Bullrush) island to the left of the car park hide pushed to the East down the channel. From A to B see pic. Where will it end up?

Can anyone identify this rather large spider for me please

Red Kite over west edge of Wells heading S. West towards Westhay now.Came off Mendips Priddy area .

Once again en route home at 3.30 this timethere were Three Glossy Ibis in two adjacent fields just to the East of the SWT Westhay Moor reserve's Dags Lane drove car park, on the south side of the Godney road. All with slightly different plumage.

Caught up with the Ring Necked Duck on Westhay Moor last evening, after passing and missing it for many days!

On the way home, passing Lewis's Drove on, Westhay Moor at 1550 this afternoon, just after the sun had disappeared, at last I manged to see the elusive Glossy Ibis.

Westhay Moor reserve might be considered wet but look at Oaks Drove, the next drove to the East ( south end), pics taken 23 Nov.

Anyone out there any idea what this bird (Marsh Harrier) had on its feet, Catcott Som. 23 Nov. Not my pictures enquiring for a friend. Left leg looks like a standard BTO Go ring: right Leg ?? and very yellow feet? Please dm me if you can help

Popped in the Decoy Lake at Shapwick Heath NNR this morning to see the Ring necked Duck. Couple of Male and one female that I could see. @AvalonMarshes. @NE_Wessex.

Friday morning trip to Decoy (Shapwick) in search of the Ring necked Ducks, Lots to chose from, managed a couple of pretty distant views (spot the difference). Plus a Bittern flyby in the bright sunshine.

Much better day @gonhsgib @GibReserve good numbers of blackcap,greenfinch, chiffchaff plus, blackbird, robin,bluetit,Siskin,garden and sardinian warbler, chaffinch, plus 16 red rumped swallows, 2 swallows and a crag Martin. Chough and marsh harrier also seen. All ringed under lic

Day8 @gonhsgib @GibReserve decent day with a mix of blackcap, chiffchaff, serin, greenfinch, songthrush x2, black redstartx1 and a small flock of 5 Siskin. All birds ringed under licence.

Day4and5 @gonhsgib @GibReserve not great grand total of 7 bird’s yesterday and 38 previous day, black redstart and blackcap the most prominent. Looking better already today.

Lucky to see the Squacco Heron near Ham Wall on Fri. 6th. Oct. my third one . checked my copy of 'Birds of Chew Valley Lake' by the great Keith Vinicombe for the date when I first saw one of these , it was 26 May 1973 at Herons Green. 50 years ago! CVL was in Somerset then!

Andrew K. and I helped count total of 415 small, mostly Cattle Egrets coming in to the Shapwick Heath roost on Noah's Lake Friday evening plus a few Great White Egrets .Pic taken y over exposing on my Bridge camera it was much darker than the image might make you believe!
