This story should impress upon us the seriousness of a number of issues.
Firstly, it does not surprise me that the individual in this case is a young, educated woman. We talk a lot about the radicalisation of young men, but relatively little about the radicalisation of young women; an increasingly prevalent issue specifically with respect to movements that are perceived as ‘social justice’ oriented.
Secondly, while we shouldn’t assume influential factors, many of us have warned for quite some time now that the normalisation of Hamas terrorism would contribute to a normalisation of dissident Irish Republican terrorism. Our media class has consciously sanitised terrorism abroad for three years now, did they really not consider that this would sanitise terrorism at home? The hubris is astounding.
The Good Friday Agreement was painstakingly fought for and it truly depresses me to see this. I am concerned for the future of my country.

@ShegunTweets In the first situation the cops should have heard the accused before he assuming he was guilty

@mcgceltic For one day Einstein, they don't wear same t shirt every day unlike gaa and celtic morons
English

@Sarahjdublin yes sarah but would you agree we shouldn't be bringing in other countries violent misogynist criminals
English

@alanbouse That’s true re the fierce critics, but just as an FYI: women are conscripted into the IDF also!
English

Genuine question: is this not against anti-discrimination law in Ireland?
Given that military service in Israel is mandatory for most of its citizens, surely this would constitute discrimination on the basis of nationality?
Heidi Bachram@HeidiBachram
The Rewild hippie festival in Ireland just banned all FORMER and CURRENT members of the IDF. As Israel has mandatory service this is a back door way of discriminating against a whole nation of people. Nasty xenophobia.

@OdohertyI64991 @alanbouse The good Friday agreement provides that anyone in Northern Ireland can elect to have an Irish passport, and therefore can elect to play under FAI.so they are well entitled to take an interest in FAI affairs.
English

I genuinely doubt if anyone in the Republic cares who Northern Ireland are playing.
Mind your own business and worry about who your own team plays.
The Republic of Ireland is not your concern.
SweetIrishGhirl@Newrygal1
You absolutely cowardly bastards @FAIreland you had an opportunity to do right not only by Irish football but to do right by humanity. #stopthegame

@OdohertyI64991 i wouldnt say someone in fermanagh is less irish than someone in cavan
English

@alanbouse Actually, a line in the map does exactly that.

@OdohertyI64991 @RuthCoppingerSP @griptmedia You know if the suspect was kerry born and bred she would be saying different
English

@RuthCoppingerSP is either stupid, evil or just cynical beyond words.
Her first reaction to this story is to... condemn the media for reporting the facts.
She's a mad crank with a Dail pass.

English

@Oismur Do you think he gets the irony of saying free people of the world in a pretty vicious dictatorship
English

I'd rather Man United get a free kick than Ireland qualify for a major competition.
Jaack@Jaack
Actually not trying to wind anyone up. Genuinely just asking… But you “club over country” lot… when was the last time you celebrated like last night over your club?
