@lemnsissay Lemn. You were great and the right choice. I know few people in any of those constituencies who voted for PM! Alan

In 2015 I ran against Peter Mandelson for Chancellorship of The University of Manchester. The votes came from three areas: The Board, The Alumni and The lecturers. I am not afraid to say that when the registrar read out the voting numbers on the phone I shed a tear. Lord Peter Mandelson: 5,269 votes Lemn Sissay: 7,131 votes. I served my full tenure as Chancellor from 2015 to 2022. Peter Mandelson pivoted and almost immediately aligned himself as chancellor at Manchester Metropolitan University which had no such system of voting. One of the greatest honours of my life is to give service. I loved being chancellor. I haven't commented on this particular matter up until now. I just want to say thank you to the people who voted for me. You made the right decision. @RussellGroup @alumniUoM @uomhums @ManchesterSU @ManMetUni

Did you know that some of our new buses are being built in Rochdale? Great to visit Mellors yesterday and meet apprentices from @hopwoodhall who are part of the team making buses to serve their own communities. The @BeeNetwork is a bona fide British growth success story. 👍🏻

@spenley @LaraLewington Dateline London, Hardtalk and Click. The three reasons that I turned to BBC News. What are you doing BBC. Why not find a home for them on your domestic channels too and keep them running.

@northernassist Yes. Travelled home via Settle, Leeds, Halifax, but delay of nearly 3 hours and had to work this out for myself. No advice offered by Northern. Why not include advice on station display or announcement? Alan

@northernassist only train from Ribblehead to Manchester and Rochdale cancelled this evening. You left dozens of passengers on cold dark platforms with no info, WiFi, phone signal or replacement service ! Why? Any advice what to do?

@northanassist No signal or Wi-Fi signal on this station. Most passengers trying to wend their way home now via Settle, Leeds, Halifax. Only information was a guard shouting from a slow moving empty train that “this train is broken so can’t accept passengers”. Shocking.

@northernassist 2 Next train was too late, so I decided to walk back home to Salford and claim a refund on my ticket. The app told me I couldn’t do this and Northern colleagues at the station told me they couldn’t help because the Northern app “ isn’t actually run by Northern ! “. Can you help?

@northernassist Hi Northern. I bought a ticket from your app for the 08.47 from Salford Central to Ashton- under -Lyne for a meeting at 09.30 in Ashton. On arrival at Manchester Victoria I was kicked off the train and told it had been cancelled.

@ntmatt @MoTGM I agree. Great talk by Ken today - entertaining and informative by a true (albeit self-effacing) pioneer! Thanks for organising @MoTGM

Our 'Mancunian', 1001 has passed an MOT and it'll be used at our 'Ticket to Ride' event this weekend. But before it goes out, it has a job inside our Museum - as the backdrop for a talk at 1pm each day by Ken Mortimer, its designer, who'll outline the story of its development.

@MoTGM Yes. Haughton Green. I think the route was converted to motorbus operation ( re-numbered 127) a year or two later.

It's #MysteryMonday so it's over to you to say where this busy scene is. Reply if you think you know, and we'll confirm the answer later. By the way, the date was 27 March 1959 - and every bus you see here ran on electricity!

@MoTGM Portland Street. I think the photo may be fake as I’m not sure that Ashton had any 6 wheel trolleybuses in that period. April fool?

@alancomms I’m just cautious about these consultations as they tend to be self-selecting if they aren’t making final decisions then OK
