“I tried the Ray Peat diet and it didn’t work for me”
No you didn’t, because Ray Peat never prescribed a diet model, never told you what to eat and how much, and probably would’ve smacked you upside the head if he heard you say that
Ray Peat was truly an iconoclast and his diet principles can be partially summarized as follows:
• Drink coffee with sugar
• Pair animal muscle meat with gelatin to balance the amino acid profile
• Optimize your thyroid hormones and mitochondrial function
• Avoid PUFAs, especially in the presence of glucose
• Live, think and act like an individual
• Eat more sugar. Quickly metabolized carbs are best
• Impaired energy production is a primary cause of disease and metabolic dysfunction
• Keep your body temperature warm
As you can see from the above there is no “this is exactly what you eat and how much” in these principles, rather it’s “do more of this and less of that”
Over time as your energy increases and your body adapts to oxidizing glucose efficiently, you will being to expand your consciousness and how you structure nutrition and ultimately your life
Ray Peat was well-read, justified his arguments well and looked amazing all the way up until the day he died at 86 years old
I’m not saying everyone will tolerate this model but if you go about it with intelligence and forethought it’s quite likely it’ll improve your life drastically
There’s a reason professional bodybuilders and powerlifters slam carbs and NONE of them are vegans OR carnivores
Eat more sugar.
