“Deserve” is such a funny word. USA didn’t deserve to win. Canada deserved better. I didn’t deserve to get cheated on by my ex wife. I deserved to play in the NHL longer. Deserve is such an entitled word stroked by the ego for those who feel sorry for themselves and can’t face the music of harsh truth or reality. Last time I checked, life isn’t fair. Sports aren’t fair. And shit happens. What a rueful way to go about your life. Looking at your own chin in the mirror can be scary for most. And last time I checked a goalie is still a massive piece of a hockey team. Dont take the shine away from what us Americans should be happy about today. “Deserved” lol.

@dstaples @edmontonjournal Most talented player to ever play the game, but definitely not the smartest.

Reports leave hope for @Olympics return alive
Mild MCL sprain seems to be the injury
Hockey gold medal game only 3 days away
Effective return seems dubious
David J. Chao - ProFootballDoc@ProFootballDoc
#SidneyCrosby By limited video, apparent low grade left knee MCL sprain. His @Olympics is likely done, but not his @NHL season. No surgery, anticipate return sometime in March for @penguins.

@Bob_Stauffer @EdmontonOilers Shows how much Babcock stifled that teams offensive potential

The last time NHL players participated in the Winter Olympics..
Drew Doughty led a dominant 2014 Team Canada squad in scoring with 4-2-6 in 6 GP as Canada claimed Gold.
The @EdmontonOilers Connor McDavid has 6 points (1-5-6)... in Canada's opening two games!

@BCHL_Alberta @EricMacramalla @HFTVSports The broken jaw "triggers" or suggests a felony, but clearly the evidence didn't show that he "acted with the intent to cause serious bodily injury... showing an extreme difference to the value of human life."
English

@EricMacramalla @HFTVSports Why would they charge him with a felony and then change their mind two days later? If a broken jaw “triggers” a felony charge why is McKenna no longer being charged with a felony?

@Scouching The size, skill, right shot D combo is irresistible to many. But none of that matters without poise and good decision-making.

Numbers 2 and 3 were huge, huge reasons why I strongly disagreed with Levshunov as high as he went.
Such an intriguing set of tools and tendencies that required time, patience and care, but things have seemingly lost the path a bit.
Ben Pope@BenPopeCST
Blashill said the Blackhawks specified three specific things they want to work on with Levshunov during his break: 1. His shooting technique (as discussed yesterday) 2. "Delivering the puck in the right spot" 3. Defensive footwork and positioning

@88Dennison @HawkHockey11 @FowleBall15 I guess so...but there's so little runway joining midseason, and he would have to pop immediately, which was always going to be low odds.
English

@albmau @HawkHockey11 @FowleBall15 He likely understood that a serious push for first overall meant jumping to college, particularly with Stenberg in the SHL and both Verhoeff and McKenna going the NCAA route.
English

@FowleBall15 What's the X, Y, Z? Besides raw puck skills and creativity, in what ways is McKenna better?
English

@88Dennison @HawkHockey11 @FowleBall15 Don't understand why he made that decision, especially with so few games left in the college season.
English

@HawkHockey11 @FowleBall15 He was the guy at Musk, now he’s not. Tough jumping into a new team mid season and trying to learn systems and roles on the fly. He needs to be better, but it’s not all on him he’s better than his college numbers show. BU sucks ass also, like you said.

Putting together a list for tonight's @GoldenKnights broadcast on the top five U.S. born players in hockey history. I've done some work, asked some prominent folks in the business and now I'm asking you. Gimme your top-five U.S. born players. Please and thanks.

@mbones419 @BenPopeCST Gotta be one of the worst GM-Coach combos in the league
English

@BenPopeCST Another great head coach hired by Dumbass Davidson.
English

@JMZygmunt11 @albmau @SchlossmanGF You either have it or you don’t. Four of the top five picks in the 2021 draft came from college and none have truly popped yet. Meanwhile, guys like Wyatt Johnston and Guenther slipped a bit and have been outstanding. Development path isn’t everything, talent still wins.
English

If the argument is about what best prepares you to play in the NHL, it makes no sense to list 20+ guys who are not currently in the NHL.
FWIW, in last 3 years, 3 players have gone directly from CHL to NHL all-rookie team, 9 NCAA guys have done it.
Mike McKenzie@MikeMcKenzie11
I’m NCAA alumni and think both leagues are great but “the playing against older players prepares you better for NHL” looks to be a misconception not backed by data/case studies. Appears quickest way to NHL and early/big $ is actually CHL—>Pro.
English

@JMZygmunt11 @SchlossmanGF You're making a key mistake in your reasoning. Drysdale and Sanderson are not the same player, regardless of what the scouts thought. Someone without the ability could play a 100 games a year and it wouldn't matter. But if it is in you, game experience absolutely matters.
English

@albmau @SchlossmanGF The games played argument doesn't work anymore. Drysdale played more games than Sanderson and turned out worse lol. Sanderson learned how to defend at the NCAA level. And Sanderson has still outscored Drysdale every year they've both been in the league
