This was most enjoyable Brahms concerto - and my debut at @elbphilharmonie. And an AMAZING Brahms 2nd Serenade from @DKAMbremen @paavo_jarvi in second part 🌠🙏

Oh Schumann…This bar, from the slow mvt of his second violin sonata, is utterly impractical. The piano - which can’t grow on a long note- has a crescendo, while the violin - which can - doesn’t. And yet, in the magical dreamworld of this music, it somehow makes perfect sense!

The programme for the concert will also include the world premiere performance of Release, a new #MusicNetwork commission from Irish composer Finola Merivale who will give a short Composer Insight Session during the broadcast. Tune in on Saturday 25th April at 7pm.

Music-lovers will have an opportunity to see @alenabaeva perform from her home during a special online performance. Alena will be joined by her husband, pianist @vadymkholodenko, for a 30-minute concert broadcast on Music Network’s digital channels on Saturday 25th April, 7pm.

We regret to announce the postponement of our April tour featuring Russian violin and piano duo @alenabaeva & Katia Skanavi who were scheduled for an 8-date tour from 24 April – 3 May. Plans are now in place to reschedule this tour for November 2021.
