Deadlock over. The EU just cleared the way for the €90-billion-loan for Ukraine and the 20th sanctions package. Russia’s war economy is under growing strain, while Ukraine is getting a major boost. We will provide Ukraine what it needs to hold its ground, until Putin understands his war leads nowhere.

The U.S.–Iran agreement on a ceasefire is a step back from the brink after weeks of escalation. It creates a much-needed chance to tone down threats, stop missiles, restart shipping, and create space for diplomacy towards a lasting agreement. The Strait of Hormuz must be open for passage again. I spoke to Pakistani Foreign Minister @MIshaqDar50 and thanked him for securing this initial deal. The door to mediation must remain open, as the underlying causes of the war remain unresolved. The EU stands ready to support those efforts and is in touch with partners in the region. I will discuss this in Saudi Arabia today.

Bucha has come to symbolise the cruelty of Russia’s war. Of the civilians killed, many were shot at close range. Some with their hands tied behind their backs. Four years after these mass killings, we remember the victims. What happened here cannot be denied. The EU is committed to ensuring that these crimes do not go unpunished, including by supporting the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression, alongside the Claims Commission. Russia must be held accountable for what it has done to Ukraine.

Dear @andrii_sybiha, I am looking forward to seeing you in Kyiv, alongside EU Foreign Ministers. We’ll come determined and united in our support of Ukraine, especially as we commemorate four years since Russia’s horrific atrocities in Bucha. And with a clear message: Russia must be held responsible for its war crimes. Accountability is essential to achieving a just and lasting peace.
Andrii Sybiha 🇺🇦@andrii_sybiha

On March 31st, we will be glad to welcome HRVP @kajakallas and EU foreign ministers in Kyiv for a ministerial meeting. The date is symbolic. We will commemorate the grim anniversary of the Bucha massacre and reaffirm commitment to holding Russian criminals accountable for this and other atrocities. We will also discuss the EU’s support for Ukraine, pressure on Russia, and efforts to achieve peace and protect long-term stability in Europe. I am grateful to HRVP Kaja Kallas and my EU colleagues for accepting the invitation and look forward to hosting them.

The EU and Ghana have a strong, long-standing partnership. By signing a new Security and Defence Partnership we are taking it further. This is the first agreement of its kind with an African country. I am pleased to sign it today in Accra with @NJOAgyemang. It will allow us to work more closely on areas that matter to citizens both in Europe and Ghana, such as counterterrorism, conflict prevention, and cybersecurity.

Australia and Europe may be oceans apart, but our security is inseparable. Signing this new Security and Defence Partnership with @SenatorWong and @RichardMarlesMP is a strategic investment in Europe’s and Australia’s joint security. Together, we will hold joint exercises, share information, build resilience against cyber and hybrid threats, and deepen cooperation from crisis response to maritime security.

President Trump launched strikes on Iran after a weeks-long lobbying effort by Israel and Saudi Arabia, according to four people familiar with the matter. U.S. intelligence assessments saw no imminent threat, but regional allies argued to strike. wapo.st/4s23KC9

A major blow to the shadow fleet: in the North Sea, our French Navy helicopters helped last night in the boarding by Belgian forces of an oil tanker under international sanctions. Europeans are determined to cut off the sources of funding for Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine by enforcing sanctions.

Striking stats from Gulf governments on what Iran fired at them yesterday (most of these were intercepted): UAE: 137 missiles and 209 drones Qatar: 66 missiles Bahrain: 45 missiles, 9 drones Means Iran launched roughly as many missiles at the UAE yesterday as it did at Israel

I will convene an extraordinary Foreign Affairs Council via video link on Sunday to address Iran and the rapidly unfolding events across the Middle East. I have been in contact with our partners in the Gulf countries. The Iranian regime’s indiscriminate attacks against its neighbours carry the risk of dragging the region into a broader war and we condemn this. It is essential that the war does not spread any further. The Iranian regime has choices to make.

The latest developments across the Middle East are perilous. Iran’s regime has killed thousands. Its ballistic missile and nuclear programmes, along with support for terror groups, pose a serious threat to global security. The EU has adopted strong sanctions against Iran and supported diplomatic solutions, including on the nuclear issue. I have spoken to Israel’s Foreign Minister Saar and other ministers in the region. The EU is also coordinating closely with Arab partners to explore diplomatic paths. Protection of civilians and international humanitarian law is a priority. Our consular network is fully engaged in facilitating departures for EU citizens. Non-essential EU personnel are being withdrawn from the region. Our Aspides naval mission remains on high alert in the Red Sea and stands ready to help keep the maritime corridor open.

Repression cannot go unanswered. EU Foreign Ministers just took the decisive step of designating Iran’s Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organisation. Any regime that kills thousands of its own people is working toward its own demise.

Denmark and Greenland are not alone. Good to see my colleagues @troelslundp and Vivian Motzfeldt. Arctic security is a shared transatlantic interest, and one we can discuss with our US allies. But tariff threats are not the way to go about this. Sovereignty is not for trade. We have no interest to pick a fight, but we will hold our ground. Europe has a slate of tools to protect its interests.

China and Russia must be having a field day. They are the ones who benefit from divisions among Allies. If Greenland’s security is at risk, we can address this inside NATO. Tariffs risk making Europe and the United States poorer and undermine our shared prosperity. We also cannot let our dispute distract us from the our core task of helping to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.

In 2025, Russia has been framing the EU and Ukrainian leadership as "warmongers", who don't want to stop the war in Ukraine. This, of course, is an outright lie. In reality, it's the Kremlin who has rejected at least seven peace proposals in 2025 alone. Don't be deceived.

The EU just decided to indefinitely immobilise Russian assets. This ensures that up to €210 billion in Russian funds stay on EU soil, unless Russia fully pays reparations to Ukraine for the damage it has caused. We keep increasing the pressure on Russia until it takes negotiations seriously. Next week’s European Council will be crucial to secure Ukraine’s financial needs for the coming years.

Trump’s 28-point peace plan with Russia “is misnamed,” @anneapplebaum argues. “It is not a peace plan. It is a proposal that weakens Ukraine and divides America from Europe, preparing the way for a larger war in the future.” theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/11/…
