The article was deleted. But, he, the Ethereum Research community and most of KOLs did have wrong assumptions and limitations on how they thought about sharding. Sharding and SC based contracts do not work (ERC tokens are a big limit), state yanking, synching at end of epoch, or other such things were the wrong take on the problem. But basic programming/software architecture teaches everyone HOW TO SCALE! And the answer is with partitioning. Even the current AI systems and supercomputers are super as they partition execution, storage, networking (even though they are built as a single machine). Every scalable system must partition not only processing, but networking and storage as well. Partitioning = SHARDING. And Shards are not equal to L2s, as some might say, that is factually incorrect. Shards create a coherent ecosystem, where you can deploy your app in any or most of the shards and be super composable with any other app on any other shard. Sharding also enables to scale not only the ecosystem as a whole, but individual applications as well. And there are a few on the mainnet, like the attestation SCs. Sharding contrary to the arguments increases security, decentralisation, throughput, performance, space. New shards add new validators, more nodes, more economic security, more space to deploy applications. With shards your app is not limited by all the other apps on the chain, as in any non sharded system, but the limitations are lifted. Sharding is the only way in which node requirements can be kept low and the network still continue to scale almost indefinitely. While some people go towards centralisation as a solution for scaling, that is actually a BETRAYAL of the crypto world. So many people have betrayed both big legacy chains. So much more could have been built and so much bigger impact could have been made. But you need to scale to make an impact! It is time to build more!
