It's the inevitable result of a culture that thinks that universal healthcare is somehow a negative, and that having guns is more important than the lives of school children. A culture that has come to see cruelty and indifference to suffering as strength.

@Invisible_TSW I would argue that I didn't need to "change sex" because I was already female. It all comes down to how you define "female", and gender identity is as valid a marker as any of the 1000s of other sex characteristics.

Transphobes say that transsexuals cannot reach their goal of changing biological sex and use this argument to mock them. They don't understand that changing sex per se isn't the goal, the goal is alteration of phenotype to be perceived as an opposite to natal sex and it doesn't matter whether it fulfills any arbitrary definition of sex change. The impact of natal sex on a passing transsexual is mostly limited to infertility and taking HRT (which can be as easy as one injection per month), otherwise it really doesn't matter as much. I don't think that the use of "you cannot change sex" has as much impact as transphobes believe. It's not like that they can impact life of passing transsexuals by words, what really has impact is phenotype, not "sex". If someone is seen and treated as a woman/man in society, because they phenotypically look look as one, verbal teasing on social networks cannot change it.
