Nicușor Dan, the president Romanians elected last year precisely to prevent anti-EU extremist forces from taking over, has turned out to be one of the main players behind the ousting of the pro-EU reformist PM Bolojan, as best we can tell simply out of personal dislike and to eliminate a very popular potential future rival. Predictably, the only likely outcome at this point seems to be a governing coalition that will include, in some shape or form, both the kleptocratic socialists and the pro-Russian, anti-EU, Iron Guard wannabe extremists from AUR, led by George Simion, a man barred from entering the territory of Ukraine and Moldova due to his connections to Russian intelligence. I do not think I can do justice to the anger and sense of betrayal felt throughout Romanian society right now, all directed towards Nicusor Dan, a man that out of pettiness and sheer stupidity has likely just paved the way to power to a pretty much openly fascist party.

They help set the agenda of that "club" as well. If something breaks in your house, you repair it, not burn down the house...

There are many factors: financial and energy crises, pandemic, budget deficits. The fact that the corrupt governments failed to handle those doesn't mean it's the EUs fault.

Hey Alex. When you ready to take the head out of the sand maybe do a quick research and see wtf is happening in Romania. Romania has added roughly $230–231 billion USD in public debt since joint EU 2008 through 2025. ..that’s a brief reality history lesson for you. Do you know what happens to a country that owes more than its worth?

@Felix1350789 @ValerieHayer A proEU govt is a govt who understands how crucial the EU is for economic growth and is able to successfully absorb incoming european funds and use it to bolster the economy. Romania's main problem is the massive corruption prevented that over the years, not the membership itself

And that so called “pro-EU” government of yours whatever that means in the far left supporters brains was not doing anything for Romania or it’s citizens, just more debt, send money to ukraine, sell resources

It tried to implement unpopular but necessary reforms but the kleptocrats at PSD couldn't bear that so they voted for this motion.

It's largely thanks to the EU that the country enjoys its current economic position, which despite the current problems and decades of corrupt politicians in power, is still night and day compared to the state it was in before.
