@SoBendito It's not inconceivable that the longtime owner of a $5.2M townhouse in Park Slope is middle-class. I know some personally. This guy bought in 1973. Probably paid about $100,000. In the mid 1960s these townhomes sold for half that much. Some of those owners are still in them.

@LVMH_Presse The English version for those who would like to read it. It is worth the read.

Money supply is significantly outpacing economic growth across major economies: Canada's M2 money supply has grown +368% since January 2004, the largest increase among G7 economies. By comparison, the Canadian economy has expanded +159% over the same period. The US follows, with M2 growth of +279% versus a +171% increase in nominal GDP. Meanwhile, M2 in France has surged +258% and +211% in the Euro Area, both outpacing nominal GDP growth of +84% and +102%, respectively. In Japan, M2 has grown +90% since 2004, while its economy expanded just +25%, the slowest pace among G7 economies. The gap between money creation and economic growth is widening.

Once we have completed our review for security vulnerabilities, we will make the entire codebase of 𝕏 open source, with no exceptions. Moreover, we will invite third party reviewers to examine the system that is running to confirm that the open source code is what is running. Trust through total transparency is the only thing that should be believed.

This will be such a nightmare.

.@kylascan: Empty nesters own about 28 percent of large homes in the U.S. Millennials with children own about 16 percent.

Americans don’t know the insane sums their employers spend on healthcare unless they leave and see COBRA prices. We should disclose healthcare costs attributed to employees on each paystub. People could see costs very directly, see how they grow over time, and understand just how much potential wage income gets shipped off to United Healthcare or a local BCBS plan. It is very difficult to get excited about invisible taxes. There’s no reason invisible taxes need to stay that way.

The largest nurse and healthcare professional strike in Massachusetts history is underway in Boston this morning.

it is noteworthy that all famous western public healthcare systems are collapsing simultaneously. Canada, UK, Germany, … wait times to see a specialist are measured in months. the “look at the NHS and how good they have it” in US politics may be a unique feature of the late 2000s/early 2010s. it turns out that a blanket entitlement with structurally ever-growing demand and artificially constrained supply may not be tenable as a simple public finance matter. eventually you have to head to the tried-and-tested combination of deregulated private markets and technological innovation. in the US, the ACA is not nearly as far along in its structural dysfunction, but average premiums are now wildly expensive and the grumbling is mounting. similar pressures may eventually arise. i wonder if necessary change in other countries ends up moving the ACA discussion in the US.
