CBME is a divisive issue in Canadian #MedEd. On one side the powers at be who conceived and designed the system. On the other are those that use it daily while also trying to practice medicine. As someone from the latter camp, I think about how we can make it better. A thread 1/

CBME results in MORE feedback - I buy that. I’m less convinced it has resulted in IMPROVED feedback. Is the quality and usefulness improving? I hope so…but am unsure. #ICRE2022

@DrDylanCollins Makes sense, I just worry that asking ERPs to reassess and document a pain score will reduce physician buy in and feasibility of the study. Would be solved by having a full time research assistant, but I won't have the funding for that! Any ideas?

@alexsenger What matters is how the patient feels 👍🏼 therefore I’d use a validated pain scale.
Plus opioid tolerant folks will have higher opioid needs but this won’t reflect pain control.

Currently designing a research project on pain management and regional blocks for hip fractures and looking for input on this question:
Is it more meaningful to measure subjective pain (like a 0-10 numerical rating scale) or opioid analgesia consumption?
