@ChapterPal is there a way to adjust the frequency of the quizzes that pop up? Having the ability to increase it or decrease it, depending on the difficulty of the topic would be nice.

Seriously this is stuff they can either fix by code or if it's already well documented. With the way those models work, it'll always do that.

I personally only know the basics of UX, so take my opinions with a grain of salt. I agree that selecting an entire section would be a hassle, so I like your alternative idea. I would imagine that the longer the selection in the chat input panel, perhaps it should create more questions, proportional to the length in some way.

Makes sense. But from the UX perspective, how do you see it? One way is to add the "Quiz" button to the contextual menu that shows up when the user selects some text. This would allow the user to decide how much of content they want the quiz to test. But if the user wants a quiz based on an entire section, this would demand from the user to select the text of the entire section, which isn't very user friendly. Alternatively, we could put a quiz icon to the chat input panel at the bottom. When the user clicks on it, a list of choices for the quiz support would appear: [Paragraph] [Subsection] [Section] [Chapter]. The user would choose an option and the quiz would appear right at the current reveal position (that is where the Q&A would appear). What do you think about each of the two options? Or you have a better idea?

I think paragraphs are a natural unit of idea in writing. After after reading a paragraph, I usually pause to make sure I understand what was expressed, and how it fits in larger perspective with the previous paragraphs, before moving on. The ability to select when to generate the quiz, like being able to use other contextualizing features you provide, I think aligns with your approach to agency and self-pacing.

@alexwebber @ChapterPal That's interesting. You mean like before you start reading the next section you would like to take a quiz about the one you just read?

@ChapterPal My initial thought would be a button to the side of each new revealed section to generate a quiz for that section. Or, alternatively, you already have a context menu that appears after highlighting text, perhaps it can be added there.

@alexwebber ...interpret differently. What is too many for you would be too few for someone else. It's an interesting idea and I should think about, but if you have an idea of how to implement this in the UI and make the result consistent with what each user expects, please share.

ChapterPal is now fully financially self-sustained. New paid subscribers are steadily being added, and most of the existing ones are staying for more than a single month. You should try it if you haven't already. IMO it's the closest experience to studying with a tutor you can get.

@Hi_Mrinal I would recommend x.com/ChapterPal (paid). I trust the creator Andriy Burkov (@burkov).

@ChapterPal Sent the book. Unfortunately didn't save the log. The error message, IIRC, was "chapterpal_process failed". If it happens again, I'll be sure to send it. I can try and upload another book I'm reading to without premium OCR to test.

@alexwebber Ok, but please still still send me the book and the log. It wasn't supposed to fail the first time.
