Alejo Carpentier murió el 24 de abril de 1980. Su narrativa compleja y barroca es un reto intelectual para cualquier lector, pero vale la pena el esfuerzo. El siglo de las luces es, para mí, su novela cumbre. Además, fue uno de los mejores ensayistas literarios de Hispanoamérica.
