1,300 km. One bike. Your name on it. 🚴💛 I'm riding to Paris with Team Rynkeby for kids fighting serious illness. Donate 500 SEK (≈ €45 / $50) and join me on my journey with your name on my frame. Smaller donations are just as appreciated! intranet.team-rynkeby.com/mycollection/9… #TeamRynkeby

Do you think this thing knows MCR? It's definitely not okay (I promise, the scissors took care of that) It's actually quite recent (2024 date on the case) and uses tech that can't really be dumped, but I thought some people might be curious to see inside it.

@RedFive1243 those chips have internal, secure flash, which is read protected once written and uses modern encryption standards (so even if you got a dump of the internal flash, without the keys it would be useless)

I've added a bunch more pictures to the 'MAME 2025' page mamedev.emulab.it/haze/2025-time… This only really scratches the surface of things that have been done, as many of the more obscure things are difficult to cover. Not everything shown is playable as it's meant to represent progress.

Dumping the ROM data from a Tronica Space Mission handheld game. The MCU is a Sharp SM5A. Other Tronica units I've examined has been built around either the similar Sharp SM510 or an epoxy coated MCU which I can't do anything with.

MAME 0.274 is out. It includes the aarch64/ARM64 DRC backend. Gives performance boosts to Apple M-series CPUs, Android devices, Raspberry Pis, and any other devices that have a 64-bit ARM processor. Only applies to games that can use MAME's dynarec. mamedev.org/?p=547

MAME 0.262 represents the latest research into Sega’s nearly unheard-of-in-the-west “AI Computer”, hailing from the late ’80s. Omar Cornut put a Herculean effort into tracking down info about it, which was pivotal when emulating it: smspower.org/SegaAI/Index Show him some love!

As I'm only "the software guy" I can only work with what is available, so big thanks to them for getting any of this dumped in the first place. It was relatively easy to get running in MAME after that, even if it did require a brand new CPU core!

thanks to @OneBitOnePixel for allowing MAME to use/adapt their SVG layout the Brick Game emulation now looks more correct! hopefully the sound area of the die will be figured out eventually too, as the datasheet does read like the sounds are also a programmed ROM/mask option.

Any macOS folks out there who are also Discord experts? I'm trying to figure out how to get screen-sharing to work across an ocean. My mom is over on the US side, I'm over here in Sweden, and the iMac that she has is balking when it comes to starting a screen-share session.

@travisgoodspeed I can provide you with the details on dumping ROMs electronically for the Sharp SM5x family of chips. There are slight variations between the different types. For the Sharp SM511/SM512 the melody ROM cannot be dumped 100% so an alternative method is used.

@MacroWorld21 These chips, which are a clone of the Sharp SM5A, can be fully dumped electronically so no decap is required for reading the ROM data.

Dumping the ROM of a Mickey Mouse clone named Altair. This unit is different from the other Elektronika clones since it also has a built-in radiation dosimeter! The ROM has been modified with a "Dosimeter Mode" that shows radiation exposure :)

@furrtek @xMetalliCx I only got sent the "game" PCB but Igor who sent me the unit has generated a schematic of the complete unit which has a high voltage generation circuit.
