A crypto SECURITY firm "tested" a Kraken bug by printing $3 MILLION into their own account Kraken pays security researchers who find bugs in their system, up to $1.5 million CertiK is one of the biggest security firms in the world and audits code for hundreds of crypto projects In June 2024 they found a bug in Kraken that let anyone add fake money to their own account and withdraw it as real crypto One CertiK researcher proved the bug worked by adding $4 to his account, then told two colleagues about it instead of reporting it for the $1.5 million reward Over the next few days the three of them printed $3 million into their accounts and withdrew it, running some of the money through Tornado Cash, a mixer sanctioned by the US government When Kraken caught it and asked for the money back, CertiK refused until Kraken told them how much they could have stolen if they wanted to Kraken called it extortion CertiK said they were "testing the limits" and returned the $3 million a few days later, minus fees Nobody went to jail A legal $1.5 million was sitting on the table They picked a 10 day heist, a Twitter fight and got zero dollars at the end of it

holy fuck, a hair dryer at a Paris airport broke Polymarket weather markets & made someone $34,000 richer - polymarket was settling Paris temperature bets on a single Météo France sensor sitting near the Charles de Gaulle runway perimeter - basically unguarded - the guy bought the long-shot outcome (like "22°C" when everyone expected 18°C) for pennies, since nobody thought it'd hit - then he walked up to the probe and briefly heated the air around it with a portable heat source, spiking the reading just long enough to register as the daily max - temperature snapped back to normal in minutes, the market resolved in his favor, and he cashed out - twice, on April 6 and April 15, before Météo France caught on and filed charges hyperstitions.
