If you fail prop firm challenges, it doesn’t mean your trading strategy isn’t valid, it just means it doesn’t fit within their small box of parameters.

Your losses don’t define you, only quitting does.

@Cryptoarena001 I knew from the beginning from my backtests that my algorithms won’t be performing all the time, it’s just the reality of trading. So I prepared myself mentally for it, diversified into other assets, and made sure I have enough liquid savings to hold during these periods

@algojan Now i got you How did you stay convinced during those 8 months that the algo wasn’t broken was it just the backtest data or something else?

A losing month does not mean your strategy is broken. A losing quarter does not mean you should quit. A losing year does not mean trading is not for you.

I’m not talking about blowing accounts here, blowing accounts is a discipline & mindset issue. For instance, my algorithms trade breakouts, and they do very well during trending markets. But in 2023 for example, gold was trending for most of the year and my gold algorithm was in drawdown for over 8 months. But is thriving since then. This is what I am trying to say in my post

But three blown accounts probably means something needs to change. There’s a difference between weathering a drawdown and ignoring a pattern. Losing periods are normal losing the same way over and over isn’t a rough patch, it’s a signal. The real question is are you losing because of market conditions or because of you? How do you personally tell the difference between a strategy in drawdown and a strategy that’s just broken?

If his income comes from teaching trading and not from trading itself. He is not a trader. He is a marketer.

A prop firm seeing thousands of traders fail every month is not a problem for them. It is their business model.

The moment I stopped trading manually was the moment I stopped sabotaging myself. No more revenge trading. No more FOMO entries. No more breaking my own rules at 2am. The algorithm does not have bad days. I did.

I’m sorry, but a funded account CANNOT replace a real trading account. You’re trading someone else’s rules with someone else’s money under someone else’s conditions. That’s not freedom

@algojan Sounds like these is discipline needed whether you trade algo or manual!

Building an algorithm is not the hard part. Trusting it during a 3 months drawdown without touching it is the hard part. Most people fail there. Not at the strategy. At the discipline.

@algojan I have traded discretionally for many years but am looking to deploy an automated strategy on some additional capital. I have tested and developed the strategy sufficiently. Do you have any advice for transitioning from validation -> live deployment.

@BeSomebodyFX @algojan That’s true, but they also locked those stats also.

People like @algojan love using Myfxbook like it’s the gold standard, but it only tracks closed trades. Open trades tell the full story. You can close your winners, leave your losers sitting in drawdown, and your stats will still look clean. And if someone is locking their open trades so you can’t see that exposure, they’re gaming the stats and most likely scamming you. That’s why you can’t rely on stats alone. You have to understand what you’re actually looking at. I don’t want to see your stats. I want to see your trades -open and closed.

The trading guru posting from his rented Lamborghini needs you to stay broke. Because the day you become profitable is the day you stop buying his courses. Think about that.
