@ciphrd @OpelBlitz489314 @WaitingToSign I would love to have a voice in the DAO. Besides the fxh token, what other vectors of access will exist? I was an enormous fxhash fan—I even created a Tezos validator node (indirectly preserving art) and created a related gallery website mostly from my passion for generative art.

@OpelBlitz489314 @WaitingToSign The fxh token will be the first vector of access to the DAO so it will remain. Regarding Artcoins, I still think there's a lot of unrealized potential but I think it will become the responsibility of the DAO to decide what happens with it.

Statement about the future of fxhash Hey fx community, As you are aware, these times have been hard for platforms on NFT markets, and we're no exception. We recently had to scale down the team and have been working on scaling down our infrastructure. At this point in time, no one in the team is getting paid, there's myself and a handful of volunteers, as we're essentially running out of cash. I can understand why many platforms stopped trying, building this kind of product is draining you to the bone. That being said, I am committed to getting us through this rough patch as I still deeply believe in such a tool existing for artists, but it's clear that the current model is not working. I've been thinking a lot about the future of fxhash, if any, and it came clear to me that the platform drifted from its initial goal of serving artists primarily along its journey. I think at the root of the problem is that a tool serving artists should be fully owned by its users, and not operated by a small team of people, regardless of how benevolent might their intentions be. While it's always been a long-term goal of ours to fully decentralize the protocol at some point, now seem to be the only opportunity we'll have at it. It only seems like a tangible path towards the future in case the company could not keep supporting the product. We're close to securing some money as a loan / investment, targeting end of June. Once we get this cash, it's clear that we will need to immediately change our trajectory. The plan - reduce operational costs to a minimum - 4k$/mo in services -> will require 1-3 months of work - 8k$/mo in employment -> reemploy a very small and focused team - 2 devs - 2-3 part-time members for helping across the board (admin, marketing, artist liaison, community, etc...) - transition towards decentralization - implement a DAO - open-source everything - figure out pipelines to slowly decentralize decision-making and ownership, from governance towards implementation - open books: company financials for everyone to see - first order of business to solve together: financial sustainability, targeting profitability - consolidate the core product through governance - chains supported - features available - etc... This is the very last time we'll be able to raise cash in our current state, so essentially this will be our last shot at finding a way to build a sustainable long-lasting ecosystem. But I deeply think that the only way to do so will be collectively. It's essential that we reduce operational costs to a minimum until we figure out a sustainable path in the future. The bridge till June It's unclear whether we will be able to keep all the services running until we get cash. We took all the steps that we can and informed our providers, but their policies are understandably strict, I'll keep you updated about this.

Starting to remove tools that are obsolete (tezos + fxhash = 💔) or not possible anymore when using objkt api instead of my own indexer ... A before/after compare :)

@NFTBiker Right, I understand--no more new minting on Tezos, but there are still many existing tickets that are either being renewed by holders, or released. It was nice to visit your tool daily to see if there any available.

@zancan @chvtv @ciphrd But, wait, the threat of bridging all art from Tezos to Base is over? They are not doing that anymore?

@chvtv @ciphrd I do not think they are at stake 🤞. Always tradable on Fxhash, or Objkt, or any dapp that support the contract.

I want to bring some additional context to this tweet, it was written in the heat of the moment as @zancan is a good friend and I highly value his opinion. It lacks some context though. First of all, some clarifications about fxhash: - We'll always support existing collections on Tezos—this is our history and culture—some of the best gen art projects will live there as long as we can make it live, and hopefully outlive us. - It's not financially sustainable to build both on EVM and Tezos, and we've seen a slow decline on Tezos in these last years despite our best efforts, compared to other chains which have been more thriving. - @base provides a tangible a clear path towards more users, and more liquidity for our ecosystem. It doesn't tick all our criteria for the most ideal chain, of course, but no chain does and I'd rather keep creating tools for artists to experiment on blockchains than not being able to. And I really like the decisions taken by the Base team to push their ecosystem in the right direction. This is what we need! Now let me say that it pains me deeply to gradually part ways with Tezos. I hold the chain deeply in my heart, some of its values, the tech, but the reality is that it's been harder and harder to justify building there for us. I wish we had infinite resources, and that we could keep shipping on both chains as we'd like to. But we don't. Regarding the Tezos Foundation, I still think and will say they have done good things for us & the ecosystem for many years. They put us on the scene at Art Basel. They helped financially on many events we had together. Helped on marketing. On many fronts. It would be a shame to disregard their efforts & goodwill in this collaboration. Yes, there's also been—quite a few—questionable decisions from them, and we tend to focus on these easily as a community. That being said, I think it's been hard for us these days to find a common ground with them, because it's just hard for us to justify building on Tezos. We've been opened with them about our plans with Base, so I get where they are coming from not wanting to support us anymore in any way. That's sad, I think we still had ways to collaborate, but the communication between them & our team has been very difficult lately. I understand their position, don't agree with it but that's what it is. But our decision doesn't come from what the Tezos Foundation did or didn't do. It comes from a few years of seeing an ecosystem slowly dying, and us having to look elsewhere for the sustainability of fxhash on one end, but also the opportunities for artists. Also, and I've said this on Discord today again, while we announced the temporary closure of the publication of new projects on Tezos, we don't want to keep this door closed forever! The discussion is always opened, and if many artists need this as a tool we'll find a way to make it work. But it's hardly justifiable financially, sadly.
ciphrd@ciphrd

It's not sustainable for us. If you want to convince the Tezos Foundation that we are meaningful enough to the ecosystem to warrant support, maybe you will have a greater effect than we have in those discussions. But otherwise, our hand is forced in this direction, and the Tezos ecosystem only grows smaller by the day. Maybe it's not us who are doing it wrong?

4/96) Coinbase's L2; BASE is the perfect example to illustrate this Coinbase made over $40M of revenue off BASE this year "Decentralizing" BASE would require Coinbase to entirely give up on that revenue It is unrealistic to expect the board of a for-profit company to do that!

@i_shaix BASE is not the fastest, cheapest, or the most secure... In fact, compared to the competition, it is slow, expensive & totally centralized Why would an AI agent choose Base then??? Convenience would not be a factor for AI either; ETH will be left behind in the dust of history!

4/5) This is parasitical, while also creating perverse incentives If ETH decided to scale its L1 it would instantly put ARB, OP, BASE, etc, out of business! Exposing a clear conflict of interest, if not straight-up corruption That is why ETH cannot adopt the best tech anymore!

Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, ZkSync & Starknet all have admin keys! These are the top 5 L2s & they can all steal user funds now If this is considered safe; then we might as well go back to legacy banking ETH gives decentralization lip service, but actions speak louder than words!
