I am often asked why we should care about space exploration. We hunt the vastness of space, igniting our curiosity and dreams. We gaze beyond the known horizon, reach for the stars, and uncover huge possibilities in that cosmic dark. 👩‍🚀👨‍🚀✨ How the #$%^ could you not care!? 🔊 This amazing footage is taken from Countdown: Inspiration4 Mission to Space netflix.com/watch/81462388

My first long video on Twitter (new feature turned on today). I have been on Twitter 16 years and @elonmusk the new capabilities are welcome, that lets me find companies that SpaceX or Starlink might want to acquire. I have no interest in @alirocketeer other than he is a brilliant human. Long video is a feature I have wanted for a long time. It really is appreciated.

The AI-first rocket scientist. Founder of @PlasmosSpace @alierocketeer takes us into his lab. These are engines that move satellites around in space. He came up with a design that joins both an electric as well as gas fired. So it can move both efficiently and quickly with less weight, size, and cost. I wonder what @FutureJurvetson thinks (he is the most into space person I have met, early investor in SpaceX and has a museum of space artifacts). I'm working with some friends to turn this kind of thing into an AI-first community and video show that I call "Unaligned." Who else should I interview that is using AI first in their work? It's OK if the others aren't rocket scientists.

My last month has been a weird juxtoposition of extraordinary highs and lows. Sometimes within seconds of each other. I was standing with three founders of Siri when I learned my friend and former boss @kr8tr died. Other things are happening like that too. Up one minute, down the next. Learned my brother in law was laid off. I owe him a post on how he could use AI in the mechanical engineering he does, but truth be told, I'm still trying to figure it out too. But took the air out of our conversation. Reminds me of @danariely who was burned deeply on his face and upper body long ago and studied how his brain perceived pain as his nurses were ripping off his bandages. It is why he's the most interesting person I've met and I've met some interesting people. Every time I think of him and Esther Dyson, who sat with us for one conversation and realize some people are playing the game of life at a whole different level than you are. Along these lines... I was going to hold the rocket engine entrepreneur Ali Baghchehsara, founder of @PlasmosSpace, video for my launch of a video series I'm calling "unaligned" until June 1. I hate not showing him to you, he is such a special human being. So holding his video any longer would be a crime. Built a jet engine when he was 15 in Iran and has a little engine for all the satellites that will be added to the grids over your head to move it around. He says it is an AI company. Or I said that. Hah. He is a computer scientist and his previous company was an AI one. So, his approach to life, business, and engines is interesting. But it is his ability to take risks that is most impressive. Risks that tear my heart out, like moving countries away from family, friends, support systems. Anytime I feel sorry for myself because someone made fun of me or called me a name I think of Ali and Dan. Ali has put up with a bunch of shit, as an immigrant, that makes my problems seem small, and, worse, rile me up with anger. So honored he came to my home and spent a lot of time with me. He so impressed my wife and I. But he is Iranian so they hit it off instantly. Instead I'm going to put it up Friday morning before I head to Sun Valley, Idaho to hang out with two great friends who are driving me around the Western United States. @scottevest and @thomashawk. Scott is kidnapping me and driving me around the country in his new car which cost a lot more than mine does. But that's not why I'm going. My friend dying a few weeks ago just rub in that we often don't get opportunities like these again. OK, I lie. Those two yokels are fun, but when I was in high school I ran four marathons. My training was three hours of running a day. One of my goals was Los Gatos Ferrari where I'd dream of being on a road trip with my friends in such a beautiful machine. No AI. Sometimes you have to go old school. That said, we're gonna NeRF it up. I hear we have a drone and a 360 camera that I'm gonna be running so if we break any laws there will be plenty of evidence. If things really go well AI Artist @RobertpHaslam can turn the car into some wild art car. He's trying to get us to capture it in a way that the whole trip could be turned into a 3D experience everyone can go on later. Things to try. Anyway, the rocket scientist is my kind of "unaligned" person. Unaligned from the past. Someone who knows there probably is a better way to do something and just hammers away at it in the lab you will be in until he gets there. The things in front of him? Used advanced 3D printing tech that is just mind blowing compared to where it was just a few years ago. Rocket engine engineering sure is different these days. AI company, huh? Well, at minimum, AI-first. He wrote a patent in 20 minutes on GPT, he told me. My kind of unaligned. Also, @IrenaCronin and I are planning something nice for Twitter Spaces for June 4th, the day before Apple's big launch.

Almost as bad as a future where we don’t exist, is one where we only exist in one system or modality. We must pursue AI to its furthest extent, but we also must ensure it is not the only path pursued. We must realize every potential future. We need to be carefully curating bloodlines over thousands of years to create super humans, we need to be founding entire planets dedicated to building vertical saas, we need to be bioengineering Gods and homunculi, we need to be growing clone armies, we need to uploading minds, we need to be harnessing the power of stars, we need to be cloning ourselves 1000 times and spreading our consciousnesses across them, we need to be simulating reality in bubble universes, we need to be creating Tartarus and trapping AI demons in it, we need to be sitting on a beach in an anti-entropic bubble with a pina colada at the end of time satisfied that we tried literally everything.

We have visitors here from UK so @maryamie laid out a traditional Iranian breakfast spread. My photo here. You can ask GPT about what “shirmal” is. It is the sweet bread here. Ask it how to make it from scratch and it will give you the recipe. Are you “AI First” for every meal?

Given the likely size of this stimulus, a great opportunity to buy growth & crypto will probably come this year, followed by a rotation into commodities (energy being my favorite) when the time comes.

This is useful history. One counter-view is that many people focus too much on the price of money (interest rates) and not enough on the quantity of money (liquidity). Policymakers have gotten increasingly myopic. Their stimulative policies have only gotten more aggressive.

The Fed pivots, or reverses policy and cuts rates, when the economy and/or markets go bad. So, yes, when the Fed pivots, it has historically been a good time to panic out of stocks as it signals things are falling apart.
