Jaylen Brown is a great NBA player. I think he's probably one of the 25-35 best players in the NBA. That's nothing to sneeze at. But Boston's point differential has been worse with him on the floor in each of the last four and six of the last eight seasons. You can explain one or two away (as Boston fans so passionately have), but that's a long track record. His assist-to-turnover ratio is bad. He's a high-volume shooter with a below-average true shooting percentage. He more than makes up for his flaws in other ways. Again, he's great. But pretending like he was going to be worth a superstar trade package, especially when leverage was killed by what seemed like a public campaign to be traded, was just setting fans up to be angry.
